Coq au Vin special was absolutely fabulous. The Bibb salad is consistently one of my favorites. You would think it's just a salad, and most restaurants put little thought into it, but it is always incredibly fresh & the dressing is very good and is something I look forward to ordering there. I love getting Bibb salad with grilled chicken for lunch. It is so good. The charred brussel sprouts are delicious, and the beef stroganoff is a favorite also. And the service is amazing! I wish I could recall our server's name as she was very attentive, friendly and efficient. There are no bad servers at Republic though. The decor is warm and inviting, and the vibe is lively. They also have a very nice bar to sit and have a beer and watch some football, or have a glass of wine and some dinner.

My husband and I went to Republic in Bloomfield, CT for our anniversary, and our entire night was completely ruined. The food was, without exaggeration, some of the worst we’ve ever had.
I ordered the short rib, which was either a completely different cut of meat or such poor quality that it didn’t resemble a short rib at all. It was burned beyond saving and drowned in a horrific sauce that tasted like someone mixed tomato paste, water, and burnt onion together. It made me genuinely nauseous and sick to my stomach.
My husband ordered the coq au vin chicken, and it was just as disappointing — bland, dry, and sad. Even the cheese plate was a joke. It was supposed to feature four different cheeses, but we got two servings of manchego, one slice that tasted exactly like deli American cheese, and a tiny cube of blue cheese.
To make matters worse, the two guests seated next to us were extremely loud and obnoxious, and it was obvious they’d been acting that way long before we arrived. It would’ve been nice if the staff had seated us elsewhere or intervened, especially on what was supposed to be a special occasion.
My husband has worked in the kitchens of two different country clubs, and he could cook circles around this inexperienced chef. Between the poor food, careless presentation, and overall lack of attention to the dining experience, Republic was an absolute disappointment. We left upset, hungry, and wishing we’d celebrated anywhere else.

Our waiter was fantastic, new the menu and was just made a birthday dinner a very wonderful experience. Noise was pretty load, would not want to sit in the front room again, but if that waiter was only in that room I would take it!~

We thought the food and ambiance were great. Our bartender couldn’t be bothered to do any facet of her job. We had to hail her drink orders, our food, silverware, our check. It pained me to leave 10%

Our experience was I did like the calamari it was probably the best I have ever had but that was the only thing I liked ! The beef short ribs were not good and the dessert for 14.00 was awful. I never had Lava cake that bad. There was a little cake and two much filling. My daughter said we have to come to this restaurant because it was amazing, so we tried it ! The menu was a little to be desire. We will not be coming back! We use to Like to go to Abagail's and the restaurant really slipped so we won't be going back there again. Our waitress twice this week: Julitza was so efficient& knowledgeable& attentive to all our needs. Nice seating area outside with fire put too!!
Due to some miscommunication with our friends regarding the day we were meeting for lunch, my wife and I ate here twice within four days. We had lunch both times, and the menu is appropriately varied and very good. I found the Reuben to be delicious, although the regular fries were a bit cold. However, on both occasions, the service was subpar. During our first lunch, after waiting some time for our entree, our server came over and asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu. When we said we hadn't received our entree, he seemed confused. We then had to wait for the entrees. On our second visit, we waited for an hour to be served our entrees, while we noticed that some people who were seated after us had already received their food. To summarize: Good food, poor service.

The noise level was inaceptable since other customer were extremely loud, probably from excessive drinking. They staff was slow and careless which drive us to a low tip (to improve performance) which is always uncomfortable.
