We’ve eaten here three times. The sushi and sashimi are as good as we’ve had anywhere. We’ve eaten at Nobu New York and at Shiro’s Sushi in Seattle when Shiro Kashiba was the owner 15 years or more ago. This is every bit as good. The service is superb, and the owner, Amber, and the sushi chef, Jerry, have made each visit a delightful experience. We live nearly 45 minutes away, but we happily make the trip to Amai whenever we can!

The best vegetable gyoza ever! But seriously, we’ve eaten sushi all over the country, and this is the best sushi we’ve ever tried. The fish is incredibly fresh and presented beautifully (the Omakase would have cost $500 or more in NYC). The owners were beyond helpful and surprised us with birthday candles in our mochi, without us even asking.

Small, out of the way location in Brookfield, CT that is shy on atmosphere but not on high quality ingredients! My favorite sushi restaurant in Connecticut and quite frankly it rates in top 5 of the most delicious, buttery, sushi I’ve ever eaten!
The chefs choice nigiri is “chefs kiss” and less expensive than doing the omskase at the chefs counter if you don’t have the time or just want to sit at a table.
It is a given that I will at least always order a ramen egg, scallop hand roll, yellowtail hand roll, tuna crispy rice every single time I dine here.

Hands down the best sushi place around. Don’t be afraid of the prices, it’s well worth it. You can taste the freshness. Service can be a little slow when they are busy but they are just making sure it’s perfect. Highly recommend this place if you are a sushi lover.
Best Sushi in the Area! I celebrated my birthday dinner here and it did not disappoint. We had the chef create two sushi rolls and he did an excellent job!! I highly recommend.

Best sushi around and it’s not close. The ambiance won’t blow you away, when busy it can get a little slow, but I promise, the food is worth every penny and every minute of waiting if busy. The owners (staff) are very friendly and very professional. You won’t want to get sushi anywhere else after you try this place. My wife and I have been regulars for nearly a year now.

I had a delicious and delightful lunch at Amai Sushi today. Amber, the owner, took care of me and was very keen to explain items and offer suggestions. The King Salmon hand roll was so flavorful and high quality, I did not 'ruin' it by adding soy sauce. The vegetable tempura was light and fresh. I also had one piece of Toro, so buttery. The food and service were amazing. This is NOT a fast food restaurant...they are thoughtful in presentation and high quality sushi. I will definitely be back soon.
