I am a postpartum doula and a tea drinker. I always show up at my clients homes with a little thermos of tea to help me get through the night. One of my families was kind enough to give me a gift card to Simpson and Vail at the end of our contract. I went online and did a little shopping. I was really surprised by the selection of non-tea items. Coffees (for my daughter) and hot cocoas (for my son). I hardly blinked and they were delivered to my door.
They were wrapped so carefully and beautifully! I really felt very cherished just from peeling back the tissue paper. And then the products! Goodness. I wish I could accurately describe the aroma of the pumpkin spice coffee to you. My daughter assures me that it is, in fact, extremely delicious. The hot chocolate is divine. Absolutely a cup of heaven. We are going through the literary teas now and even though we have only tasted a few so far, Maya Angelou is my favorite so far. This was such a lovely treat. I hope people consider going to the store or giving a gift card to friends and family to show your love.
I feel good supporting a small business in Connecticut who makes delicious fresh loose tea. Representatives at the facility are extremely knowledgeable about their products and very helpful.
When my supplier (Teabox) ran out of Harmutty Estate Assam tea, I found some at Simpson and Vail. I tried drinking this tea several times and each time it made me feel sickly. This supplier deals mostly in 'flavored' teas. I did not order a 'flavored' tea but this tea smelled like it had a subtle added flavoring. I despise artificially flavored teas and suspect that there was a flavoring added or some type of contamination of this tea. Perhaps it is just old. Not sure.
Seems like a top notch tea store. Kinda a strange location but also really pretty and the people looking for a tea store will find it anyway so that's not really an issue. Pretty huge selection and the staff are super knowledgeable
So amazing to have such a great selection of teas and tea stuff so close to home. You have to be looking for it to find it but so worth it!
I always have an excellent experience when ordering from Simpson and Vail.
I absolutely love this place. They have an astounding selection of teas from all over the world. They also have a selection of imported coffee for people that prefer it. Call me old school, but I love brick and mortar businesses, especially if they are multigenerational like this one. I had a great conversation about the history of the business with the father and son that currently run it. They really know the ins and outs of the business. There’s a nice gazebo outside where you can have your tea In a nice serene setting. They also have delicious snacks and desserts to munch on with your tea. Of course, they also have all of the accoutrement that accompany tea and coffee should you need any. If you can’t find something to drink in this place, you’re not trying hard enough.
Wonderful people, delicious tea and samples
I absolutely love this store!! The atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming, and there is such a large variety of not only teas and coffees, but also snacks and mugs as well. It's a perfect place to find a gift, or to just treat yourself to something delicious. Not to mention, the staff is incredibly friendly as well! I was helped by Sarah, and she was very knowledgeable about the products and incredibly pleasant to chat with. Can't wait until I run out of tea so I'll have an excuse to come back!!
I discovered Simpson & Vail through the PBS Shop when I purchased the National Parks tea collection. I've only tried five of the ten so far and I'm blown away! I've loved every one and they truly nailed the essence of each park. I immediately went to their site and bought the Literary collection as a gift for our elementary school librarian, and the Dessert collection for myself. I drink tea every night and love having a variety of flavors depending on my mood/weather/season, so these samplers are such a treat and the perfect gift for tea lovers!

I love a good local gem- and this is one for sure!!This store has everything for a tea lover. I came with my boyfriend on Monday the 22nd because he loves tea and was gifted a set of their teas a few years ago and loved them. I’ve been wanting to take him to check it out and we happened to be in the area. They have tons of great stuff- as gifts for yourself or a friend! Tea cups, honeys of all kinds, spiced tea cup mats, even candles and dish towels. They also have the cutest selection of tea tins!! You can pick a tin, and different types of teas, as they have TONS all over the store.Im not a big hot tea person (although I try) but they even had ice tea bags!!!! I got myself the mango hibiscus tea and I can’t wait to try it!!! I also purchased a really nice smelling natural candle (made with essential oils and natural herbs and such)We can’t wait to go back!
great atmosphere, great tea accessories, not great teaI was given $100 dollars to spend at this tea shop and I was so excited. I spent around $85 dollars on tea and the rest on accessories. While the accessories were great, the tea was not. The thing is the teas are more aromatic than they are robust in taste. I followed the instructions on the bag on how to brew the teas but they tasted like nothing. One of them actually gave me an allergic reaction. I tried different ways to brew/make it but they all turned out tasteless or gross. Very disappointed and I don't think I will be buying tea here again.
A favorite place, and tea source, for decades. Helpful & knowledgeable folks, wonderful tea and tea-related goods & gifts.
Lovely tea shop, staff is amazing!Try the Vanilla Chai tea and seasonal gingerbread coffee?
Always a pleasure, such a relaxing shopping experience. Love the store, and super friendly people.
