One of those places that you drive by and try to remember to go back to. Very unassuming but well worth the stop. I have been driving by for over 20 years and finally got to stop in. Not overly big but very comfortably sized to not be overly loud. Decor was perfect but I don't feel overdone. I had the calamari appetizer and was impressed as some places almost always over cook it. The salad feeds two comfortably. Their house dressing is amazing. My entree was the Poseidon adventure with mussels, shrimp, clams, calamari, salmon, scallops and a lobster claw over linguine. Plentiful and amazing. My wife, who doesn't like seafood, had the sirloin, while it was a touch over cooked she still enjoyed it. Our server was very attentive and helpful. Will definitely go again.

We went here for dinner last Friday night. We had been to the other location previously, but it seems it is temporarily closed, so we end up here. We called ahead and when we arrive, we were quickly seated. They started us off with some breadsticks and warm bread. I had fried clam strips and Wife had baked stuffed shrimp. Both of our meals were good and as expected. We were served salad with our meals. Our server was attentive and friendly, she did a great job. This place matched the high standard their other location had set when we had gone there previously, which was awesome. If you like seafood and don’t wanna drive to the shore, this is as good as it gets.

I have been coming here for years and it’s always a wonderful place to have a meal. The seafood is always cook well and their house salad that comes with most meals is by far one of the best. Last time I went I had the bouillabaisse which was delicious and full of flavor and I would recommend that to anyone who is a Seafood lover!!
Besides the delicious food the ambiance is very relaxing and you feel very at home. I normally sit at the bar when Lane is there and he is not just excellent at his job but helps make the experience of being at Saybrook more enjoyable.
So if you want a nice and quick night with a delicious dinner go to Saybrook.

1/31/26. Dinner with my Wife & Daughter. One glass of water, no refills. Was offered and accepted second bread basket only to be taken away when salad was delivered (basket was untouched, waiting for our dinners). Two containers of Ranch only. Tried several times to stop waitress for something else, zero response, ignored. Both my Wife & Daughter were offered containers while I was halfway through my Posiden Dinner and their meals transferred into containers and me still eating table was cleared. No desserts. Bill presented and k offered several Gift Cards to cover the Bill and the waitress asked - “do you want me to add the tip to the Bill for you”! I told her NO, I’ll put cash down. That wasn’t well received. I put 20% cash on the table (usually more based on service but!) and before we were out the door, waitress magically appeared and “grabbed that tip”!!!

I have been going here for like 25 years and I am never disappointed. The staff is phenomenal, the chefs are amazing ... Everything is A1 on-point. PROVE ME WRONG.

Great service and cozy, casual atmosphere. Had the lobster cakes and a salmon special dish that were both amazing! If you get the lobster cakes, ask for it served with the apricot horseradish sauce!
Update: Took away a star. Went yesterday, 5:30 reservations. The only food that came out hot was the calamari and my niece's chicken tenders and fries. Everything else, including the clam chowder, was barely warm. Server had some oversharing comments and was just ok. Im hoping this was just a fluke but I likely wont be back to find out.
A slice of ocean front dining in our own backyard! Saybrook Fish House will make you feel like you are oceanside dining on the freshest of seafood with everything cooked to perfection. Fresh flavors, wide variety, friendly staff. The best clam chowder in the area!

First of all, our waitress Stephanie was the most accommodating server we have had in a very long time. From the moment she came to check on us, we felt cared for. Even when one meal came with the wrong side, she went above and beyond to make it right. Best customer service we’ve seen! On the other hand, the host who sat us was very rude. Yes we were late for our reservation but had called to inform the restaurant and would’ve been understanding if we weren’t seated upon arrival. After seating us, he went into the kitchen to then complain about my family and we could all hear him from our table. It set the mood as very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I’ve never been made to feel so disrespected. If Stephanie hadn’t made up for the experience with her wonderful service I don’t know if we would return. She made the experience.
