First of all, our waitress Stephanie was the most accommodating server we have had in a very long time. From the moment she came to check on us, we felt cared for. Even when one meal came with the wrong side, she went above and beyond to make it right. Best customer service we’ve seen!
On the other hand, the host who sat us was very rude. Yes we were late for our reservation but had called to inform the restaurant and would’ve been understanding if we weren’t seated upon arrival. After seating us, he went into the kitchen to then complain about my family and we could all hear him from our table. It set the mood as very unprofessional and uncomfortable. I’ve never been made to feel so disrespected. If Stephanie hadn’t made up for the experience with her wonderful service I don’t know if we would return. She made the experience.

I mean since I ordered deep fried food not sure what else I should have expected, it’s going to be oily. I will be back, but will definitely order something else.

Havent been to Saybrook Fish House in years and more than likely, won't be going back. And maybe I'm getting alot less tolerant but I'd like to enjoy my meal without having to scream across a small table to talk to my two dining partners. It was a Saturday night 6pm, but the noise level was unbearable. Asked for a booth when I made reservations but got a small table for 3 back by the exit door. I was told he didnt have any booths available. Yet where we were sitted was just next to a separate room just with booths and out of about 10 only 3 were occupied. Our waitress was ok but service was slow and we all ordered meals that came with a salad but only one person at the table ordered an appetizer which was the calamari on lettuce. Our other salad (s) never came and she was so busy, we just shared the calamari. Got A bread basket with 3 SMALL rolls and 2 pretzel sticks. Our main meals came about an hour later. I ordered Fish & Chips, my husband Wholeb. Clams and my daughter who had flown in that evening just to have dinner with us, had Surf&Turf. When our server came to clear the plates, she looked at me shocked and asked if anything was wrong bec I had eaten only One piece of fish. Right, I should have said yes it was terrible but did not bec I did not want our guest to feel uncomfortable. The pieces of fish were nice thick pieces But the oil they used to fry them in was old and rancid. My husband later told me that he was really unhappy with his meal bec of the clams being fried in bad oil also. My husband comes from a family who established 2 very well known restaurants in NWCT so we know abit about good cooking. So....I'll give them a 3 only bec my daughter enjoyed her meal.

Exemplary service. The food was memorably good. Boulliabaisse was loaded with seafood. Mahi Mahi was perfect with strawberries. Communal salad was fresh and plentiful. We don't eat out as often these days, but this experience was worth every penny.

My roommate and I decided to try Saybrook Fish House for the first time as I’ve been living here almost 5 years and hadn’t done so as of yet. We wanted lobster rolls, so we both order lobster roll full meals. She got clam strips from the “lighter fare” part of the menu, where I also ordered the crab cakes with a side of (3) stuffed shrimps.

The food is absolutely amazing.

However, the wait for pick-up took at least 15 minutes maybe even more which was strange considering they had just opened so it wasn’t packed and the said 30 minutes till pick up.

Also, when I got home I noticed they gave me an entire crab cake meal, and gave my roommate an entire clam strip meal.

My advice, wait 5 extra minutes or 10… before picking up your food “to-go” order and double triple check your receipt or you may end up spending more than intended.

Came here after kayaking and it’s perfect vibe: lobster rolls are incredible and stuffed shrimp is must have. Drinks are so good and so reasonable prices that I had 3! Andrew is amazing and can’t ask for a better waiter!
