Everything at l'ostal was perfect - from the warm welcome we received when we arrived to the friendly, professional and informative service and of course the food which was outstanding! We are already planning our return and what other dishes we want to try.

One of a kind venie. Very limited menu, but what is served is all terrific. Most of menu is static, with a large number of seasonal specials. Quality, preparation, presentation and taste. All 4 essentials get a 5 out of 5. It's a small place, so limited seating, so reservations are necessary to avoid long waits. Small bar to wait at, can get filled easily, so call ahead. Kitchen takes time to make orders to it's high standards, so sit back and enjoy. Lovely outdoor terrace enclosed by schrubs from sidewalk and street, weather permitting. Large umbrellas provide shade, but not protection from a heavy rain. One table outside is actually an L-shaped sofa and upholstery on two sides, with coffee table in center where food is served. Definitely a must to go to, with a French application of cuisine technique and some menu items, but also Italian selections, and American favorites, all with high standards of the best of its kind. Prices are high, but expected for maintainable of their high quality standards. Go when you have the time to enjoy the whole experience, so it's definitely a special event go-to as well as a place to sit back and just enjoy the entire time dining experience.

The waitstaff is unbelievable: from Christina helping us get just the right table and time to our waiter guiding and suggesting our food and drink choices. We took his advice on everything and he was so right! The food was special: the gnocchi was crazy good and the trout was perfectly cooked. My friend had the chicken and said it was very rich but she ate the whole dish!!! Desserts were wonderful and espresso perfect. The wine list was of value with good choices. We loved the outdoor seating and hope to return soon.

Our first time dining at L'Ostal was fantastic. The experience was wonderful, and both the food and service were excellent. We will definitely return and have already told numerous friends that we must go there.

This restaurant is a gem in Darien. The service was perfect: helpful and cheerful but not too intrusive. The food is french with a few twists which made it unique. We went for our anniversary and was not disappointed. We'd go back again.

Great scene. Better wines available by the glass at the wine bar next door but still good. Just gat bar snacks but look forward to trying a proper dinner.

We have been fans of L'Ostal since it first opened. Their food, service and atmosphere have always been first rate. The menu didn't change a lot in the first few years, so that was its only drawback. They have added a number of new dishes that are all winners and kept the favorites we've enjoyed. They have one of the most talented staffs ..... they know their food, what to suggest, how to entice you to try, and are always accommodating about sharing. They help make it a home run every time. It is perfect for couples, friends and anyone who loves great food. I have never seen a really small child there- nor is it suited for really young kids. For a Tuesday night, it was full inside and outside- that speaks volumes about their excellence and loyal following, ourselves included.
