My wife and I have frequented Tengda for many years. Generally speaking we've enjoyed it. But this past Saturday night was a terrible experience. They had 1 waiter for the entire restaurant. We waited 30+ minutes for appetizers, then another 30+ minutes for entrees. The food was cold both times. We ordered glasses of white wine - they were served in tiny juice glasses. I've heard of portion control, but this was ridiculous. Very disappointed, not what we would expect from Tengda.

I just got a California roll- how difficult is it to make one fresh? The avocado was mushy-overripe and the rice seemed days old. I had to throw it away. Even the ginger wasn't fresh.My friend had the beef teriaki and I tasted a piece- it seemd odd and Im being kind. How I wished he had gone to Coromandel and I could have had a great meal- I won't be ordering take out or coming back here. The food may be acceptable by Darien standards but it's a joke.

We have been customers at Tengda for over 10 years. Tonight, there was one waiter in the whole restaurant, along with a bus girl. We waited close to half an hour for appetizers, and another half hour for entrées, all of which were cold. Sorry, but it was really a terrible experience. First time that has happened to us but it might be the last.

Giving 2 stars because the food wasn't bad, it just took a loooong time even though it was a Sunday afternoon and the place was empty (seriously, only 1 single patron there). My kid got sick at the table while waiting for the food and the staff was incredibly dense when I asked for a trash can and towels to clean it up. I was pointing to the child as he was throwing up (he could not make it to the bathroom without making a mess along the way and was trying to limit where it went). They were not understanding the issue or the urgency at all. We finally cleaned it up with several cloth napkins and I just grabbed a trash bag myself. We ask for the food to go and the waiter started talking to us instead of putting in the order for to go. He started swearing and using the F word about his personal life experiences from his home country in front of 3 little kids and a teenager. Sad stories of course we felt for him but not cool in front of little kids. They were all in shock - it was absolutely unbelievable. They know those are words they can't use and the know it's totally inappropriate to speak like that. But try explaining what Tourette Syndrome is to 4-8 yrs olds - they will suddenly come down with it themselves (at school). And the other staff was just standing there listening to him like it was totally normal. Makes sense as to why the place was empty.

Excellent fresh sushi and a wonderful menu with lots to choose from. The cold sesame noodles were delicious, and sashimi was great.

Great service and amazing food! We ordered the dumpling sampler which had 3 different types of dumplings. A great way to start off the meal. We also ordered the magical roll and general tso’s chicken. The magical roll was fresh and flavorful. One of the best sushi I’ve had in Fairfield county. The sauce for the general tso’s chicken was also fresh and of quality; unlike the sauce you’d typically have in Chinese takeout. The staff was attentive and welcoming; making our dining experience momentous.

Ordered from this place multiple times and this time around, I am furious. My receipt came very high and I called to ask why the prices on my receipt don’t match my paper menu that they always attach to an order and the online menu. The manager stated that inflation has caused a change in prices and “there’s a sign at the register stating prices are subject to change”. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISEMENT THEN.He refused to listen to my frustration on why they keep delivering the old menu without printing new ones.Be aware when you order from this place. Completely dishonest and a terrible way of doing business. Mind you, I’ve been ordering take out from them for a long time with the same menu’s coming back to me.Also- how can someone see the sign at your register if they chose a delivery option? I will not be ordering from them anymore.Regarding the owner’s comment below- explain to me how you would like me to “direct message”’you. On what platform? Perhaps provide me an email? I already spoke to the manager who was rude and dismissive.If you wanted my feedback, you would provide me a means of communication.Thank you.

Having been our local favorite for sushi rolls for many years were were most disappointed with our last meal at Tengda in Westport. The tempura crab inside our roll was precooked, tough and cold and the presentation and lack of the usual standard and flair was just missing. I know many places suffered with covid specific issues, however it is time to pick quality back up especially with increased pricing.
