Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

Very delicious ice cream up until I found a hair in mine….

Absolutely HORRIBLE experience- I mean the WORST customer service experience I’ve had in my life…. The young man with earrings behind counter was VERY rude and stand-offish. This was my FIRST time here and so my boyfriend and I didn’t know where the line started. We took some time to check out the flavors as an older couple- the ONLY other people in the store- ordered in front of us. Hint hint- the server was rude to them! As they checked out, a small group of college students walked in. MAYBE 5-6 people. The server skipped over my boyfriend and I to take care of the college kids so the college girl at the front of their group asked me “Did you order yet? I’m just looking?” I said, “No we were waiting over here behind them” referring to behind the older couple who had just been served before us. And then the man pointed to in front of where the young college girl was and said “The Line starts here” I was in disbelief so I half-jokingly said “Oh, so I have to wait behind them even though I was here first?” Well the college girl let me order first, as I was there first and she wasn’t ready. The server was an absolute DOUCHE bag to me after this. I told him what I wanted, he looked at me and told me to repeat myself. No “I’m sorry I didn’t catch that” or “I’m sorry I’m hard of hearing.” He literally said “You need to repeat yourself” and then just stared at me. I repeated myself and straight up told him “You have an attitude”. I ordered a CONE. He then proceeded to put my ice cream in a bowl. I said “I ordered a cone but whatever I guess I’m getting a bowl.” He still didn’t care. He proceeded to continue scooping into the bowl so I literally left! My boyfriend had to pay for my ice cream and I told him I’d Venmo him later. I wasn’t going to entertain that type of treatment. Please keep in mind that there was NOBODY ELSE in the store besides myself and my partner and the group of college students. Please keep in mind that I’ve BEEN a server at MANY restaurants. Please keep in mind that the store vibes are supposed to be lighthearted and welcoming. F*** these people if that’s how they treat guests.

If I'm paying $10 for a single scoop in a waffle cone, I better have a flawless experience, and both my most recent visit and the one before have disappointed. The scoop was on the small side and the waffle cone was at least a day old and almost chewy. The cookies in the 'cookies and cream' also just didn't bring much to the conversation. Would not recommend.

Great ice cream I loved it!!!

We came to Van Leeuwen for ice cream, which was delicious, but unfortunately the service really brought down the experience. The employee serving us seemed annoyed and gave off a bad attitude, as if we were bothering them just by ordering. It made the visit uncomfortable despite the great ice cream.

The ice cream is delicious, good portion and fair prices, and I liked the service, I’ll be back ! :)
