The Rusty Rail is at the top of my favorite places to eat after going there recently. The prices were very reasonable, everything tasted wonderful, and the atmosphere was perfect.I got the spicy chicken sandwich (I cannot remember the exact name of it) and a margarita. The sandwich was spicy enough to let you know you definitely ordered something spicy but nothing extreme. The amount of sauce on it was perfect to. Its not a sandwich drowing in sauce with a sloppy bun, but there is enough that you get some sauce with every bite.I'm very excited to go back. The hot dogs look out of this world.Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly, kids eat free on Wednesdays, which I think is unheard of.

Really enjoyed our time at the rusty rail, although kinda on the small size the refreshments were excellent. Parking is definitely a challenge.

The food here is amazing! Best cooks in Ct!Update: I worked there and WAS the cook. The place won't be there long. It's a local hangout for the local Riff Raff. The manager is eccentric and a little nutty. Nothing special here. Don't waste your moneyKid-friendliness: Games for the kids out on the patio. Can watch the old Essex trains go by

Go! Food and service was great. The atmosphere is right up our alley...rustic charm and laid back. Our group of 7 made advanced reservations (recommend since tables are limited indoors). We were seated early and our waitress was personable and helpful. The cooks and bartenders made drinks/food quickly. Everything was great. The best part was the fire pit in the back...there was a smores and hot chocolate bar set up for the kids. We all had such a great experience and will be back. Thank you!
Fun rustic outdoor dining on a warm fall day...and a steam train!Smokey Mountain Double Bacon 1/2# burger was great. Fries were done perfectlyDog friendly (they actually have special meals apparently) ?

A+ on atmosphere! This place is so fun. Staff were all super nice, prompt and accommodating. Drinks were perfect. Food was good. The blackened chicken had great flavor but was too salty for our taste. Loved the band and outdoor seating area. The train going by while we watched the band was so cool! Will definitely be back!

Went there for the first time today. First of all, we went inside and expected to sit and eat inside. We were met by someone who said if we were planning on ording food we had to be seated outside. We proceed to the patio area. We had to walk on gravel to get to our tables. There were dogs all around us, our food, and our table. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We got our drinks out and was prepared to put our order in as we usually do everytime we go out. The waitress brought out our drinks and left. We were never asked if we were ready to order. Then about 30 minutes later, the waitress brings out our appetizers that we ordered. Again, she took off and never asked if we wanted to put in a order. Then we get asked by whom we assumed was the owner how did we like our dip. We told him it was good. We asked him if we could possibly put in our order. He said she will come back by when she is ready to get your order. We waited another 30 minutes and decided we would just go someplace else. The waitress finally came and asked if we would like to order. We told her no that we would just take our checks. And thank you... I guess the owner must have told her that we asked to order after that because she brought over the check and was very angry. In a very angry way, she sat the check Down and said sorry your experience has not been the best. Then rolled her eyes and stomped away.. The bill was over 70 dollars for 2 dips and 4 drinks. My brother paid the bill. Then the waitress brings out the same bill again for the same things and handed it to me. My sister in law who works as a waitress at this time was livid. She got up to speak to the owner and the owner told her to never come back again. She then said she was going to go find the waitress and still give her 20.00 for waiting on us. She wanted to do this because she wanted to turn the other cheek and do the right thing in spite of us going to a place and paying money to be treated so awful. No sir, I don't think we will ever be back again after this experience. I hope other customers are not treated this way in the future. However, judging by other reviews and the responses, I highly doubt it. This seems to be the norm as to how customers are treated and the response they get when they as a paying consumer complain.
