Attempted to eject for bringing a service animal in. We had paperwork, they attempted to cite their status as a private entity as a reason to refuse service. This is discrimination, and will catch them a lawsuit. Potentially from us.

Started off well but going downhill. Last three experiences have not been good... strawberry beet salad was terrible a few weeks ago; nachos were half cooked last week; and tonight they left a main portion of my pick up order off with no offer to remedy the situation except to come back and get it, which I wasn't doing since I already drove home and it was late. Too bad, it's a convenient go to when I want a night off from cooking. 3 strikes.

We have been to Hard Hat many times since it opened. We showed up on a Thursday night, that seemed somewhat busy but there was no line. We were seated by the hostess right away and then ignored for 20 minutes. Waitresses walked by us and we saw some tables visited by a waitress up to 3 times while we waited. No one took our drink order or even stopped over to let us know there would be a delay. My family ended up walking out. It will probably be a while until we return.

Went today for a family function. Buffet style luncheon. Delicious appetizers & delicious meal! Beautiful cozy atmosphere . Highly recommend. Perfect too for a shower.

Came in on a Monday around 5:30. Bartender/waiter was extremely rude slamming drinks and food down onto the table. The restaurant was poorly lit. Significant lack of servers. Waited nearly 15 minutes to have our orders taken even for drinks.

My husband and I really enjoyed this Hard Hat location. Really nice atmosphere, and a well curated menu consisting of bar food, sandwiches and entrees. The steak and cheese eggrolls with a spicy aioli dipping sauce were excellent. Looking forward to returning to explore more of the menu.

Have lived in Durham for 24 years and extremely happy to have a place to eat out or do take out where we genuinely like the food. We’ve done each and each has always been good. Love the wings and the salmon dinner especially. Furthermore, in our experience, the staff is always professional, kind, and attentive. Keep doing what you’re doing, please!

fo od is great, service is excellent, one thing needs improvement,person at front desk has to seat people, cash out take out orders and answer phones. I eat there often and also call for take out orders Called saturday night for take out, gave up trying after numerous calls, phone goes to voicemail after a few rings. Decided to try and get takeout sunday afternoon for 6 people. I almost gave up again, but had already taken what everybody wanted, 4th call someone answered, she was great, order ready on time, order was correct, and as always food was very good. Nedd to organize take out system better, may be losing business and not know it/
The bartender is awful! Can't multitask very well. Takes care of the restaurant bar orders and completely ignored us for a good 5 mins. I didn't know what I wanted to drink at first so he got my husband and friends order and proceeded to ring it out. I said I know what I want to drink now. Do you have blue cheese stuffed olives. Right away he says no! I was like well can you make some up and he said no! Ok whatever I'll deal with it but have had them do this for me before there. Just too lazy to take that extra step for a customer. Then he proceeded to take a dinner order and get 4 other drinks for people. I said I think you forgot about me and he says. No I didn't forget! So how do you go on to take multiple orders while I'm sitting there without a drink! We were going to have dinner here but after this experience, we wanted to get out of there! I can say this is probably only the second review I've written on Yelp but wanted to make it known that the younger bartender is awful. Won't be back any time soon!

The bartender was right on point the server was experienced. When asked what she would suggest, she gave us 3 or 4 suggestions. We ordered 3 of the 4 suggestions and were very, very happy with them. Great place to hang out and make new friends we will be backParking: So the parking lot is small, but they do have valet parking at no charge on Fridays and Saturdays. So a lot of times the place looks like it may be too busy to get a table but that is not true. They have plenty of room inside. Just their parking is very tight. Don't drive by? Thinking you can't get a table
My wife called in this order for me to pick up on my way home from work. I get there after 20 min and I pay for the food and I have to wait for my order of 12 wings and fries. No big deal. I am waiting 15min while the hosts go back to the kitchen to check on my order twice and on the third time finally I get my food and leave. I figured the wings were gonna be hot and fresh because I was waiting so long for something that doesn't take that long to throw into a friar. I was wrong. My wings were warm but not hot and I received a toddler's portion of fries that were also warm but not hot or fresh. So what was I waiting on?

Classic rock (Queen) on the radio, football,basketball on screen. The Bar is Spotless Clean! Classic B&W historical photos on the wall. A pint of Sam Adams and Chomping into the Bison Burger done medium with chipotle, mango salsa and fried onion...so juicy I can't put it down. Bartender, Ed is your instant friend very attentive and kind! While having a relaxing lunch, the manager handed out some Valentines Day free glass of wine coupons to us. This place just opened about a year ago and I'd say its a sweet place to stop in if you are in Durham CT.

My previous review of Hard Hat voiced my concern over the overly salted meal I had. I am happy to say that I found this problem was addressed when I returned yesterday. My meal of chicken, mashed potatoes, and brussels sprouts was delicious. It is really rewarding to know that the staff reads the reviews and makes changes based on customers' opinions. I will certainly be back!
