Walked in very skeptical. “Breakfast all day” usually means I guess lunch had to be sacrificed. I’m not a breakfast guy, so expectations were cautiously medium.
Then the waitress (didn’t catch her name, but she was so nice I forgot I was in Connecticut and thought I’d somehow crossed the Mason-Dixon Line) suggested the buttermilk chicken sandwich.
I said, “Alright… but hear me out.. can y’all make it buffalo and just go ahead and dip the whole chicken in buffalo sauce?”
Reader… THEY. UNDERSTOOD. THE. ASSIGNMENT.
Normally I take a picture of my food. This sandwich showed up looking so good I skipped photography and went straight to survival mode. Crispy. Juicy. Perfectly sauced. Zero regrets.
Hands down the best buttermilk buffalo chicken sandwich I’ve had in Connecticut. Yes, I’ve only been here two days but honestly, I’m ready to stand on that claim.
Five stars. I will be back. Possibly tomorrow.

Normally The Shack is consistently good. We stopped here twice on our last visit to the area. The first time we dined in and enjoyed it. The second time, we placed a to-go order that was completely wrong and went against my dad's diet restrictions? Maybe they gave us the wrong order. They are always extremely busy and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

The Shack in East Lyme has delicious food and great-tasting coffee served every day! Danielle, the hostess, is very talented at her craft and seats everyone promptly, and all the staff are polite and courteous. A fantastic place to enjoy a meal! Highly Recommend!!

I paid about $12 for a bacon sausage egg and cheese extra toasted eggs well done with mayonnaise and white cheddar cheese BUT what I got was a double sausage double egg sandwich. Food was cooked well done to my perfection. But what restaurant does it cut the sandwich in half? …..the kind of restaurant that doesn’t get your order right? I’m on break so I’m unable to wait to have another sandwich made by asking on behalf of your customers in the east Lyme community please do better.
