A great spot along the CT River overlooking the marinas and Essex Island. There is a nice porch outside with plenty of seating, as well as indoor dining, and a small bar room. Portions are generous and the food is delicious.

You definitely make your way to this spot for the daily seafood specials. Delicious!The regular seafood menu fare is just as good as a lot of shoreline restaurant albeit a bit more pricey.

My husband and I went here for date night a few nights ago. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place!! The view the atmosphere, the service and the food were all amazing and we eat out ALOT!! Essex is such a quintessential New England town and we love it even more now because of Dockside Grill!!

I love going to restaurants near the water in the summer and this place was one I had yet to visit. The river views from the deck were great. The food was subpar and I I wouldn't recommend ordering any dish over $15 or $20 as it's just not their sweet spot. This is more like a fish-n-chips joint, so I would I head in with that understanding. If you order the calamari and you've had some great versions of this at other restaurants, you're going to be disappointed here. It's all fried breading with little calamari. So, go in with lowered expectations and you'll be fine. I would return again.Ed

Love jumping on the bike for a flavorful lunch at Dockside. Karen and the staff make you feel like family. My personal favorite is the shrimp scampi over rice. So delicious and refreshing. Highly recommend visiting Dockside!

Casual grill overlooking the marina and water. Lovely deck and very friendly servers. I wasn't entirely wild about my salmon but would go back for the bisque and try something else next time.

First visit. Some of the wait staff seemed confused who was sitting where and how long they had been waiting. Got the captains platter and a additional order of onion’s rings which were over cooked on the outside, stuck together and raw batter on the inside. Fries were the seasoned ones.. plain regular fries are a better match to seafood. Scallops were few and on the small side. The clams were clumped with batter and the was no sense/taste of clams. The fried shrimp were excellent. The view represented online is of water full of boats… in reality it is a dirt parking lot/dry dock area.

Arrived and saw 3 tables open on the outside deck..at least 4 inside open.Greeter(if you want to call her that) ,tall, short haired woman with eye glasses I believe whose name is Karen) sees us. No greet so we say.. "can we have a seat outside?"She says with zero emotion.."wait here,"There are other waitresses around..nothing, totally blows us off as we wait ..and wait ..and wait and watch her walk right by us a few timesWe see her standing at the bar area laughing with patrons.She could had seated us and simply said.."your waitress will be a few minutes" ..anthing other thne leaving us standing outside the kitcheninstead we are left standing outside the kitchen (and see a chef wearing a shirt that says "I hate people"..classy!)Still waiting waiting now on the deck as we were in peoples way" we continue standing and we watch as she completely disregards us, chatting it up inside the bar.We live in the village, walking distance to Dockside and btw this is the second time this same woman has done this to us, last time being last summer...and like last time we walked out without there being simple attempt to stop us..well so much for giving a place a second chance.I'd try anywhere else but here..
