My favorite restaurant in Litchfield hands down. I’ve been looking for a good food good vibe place ever since moving from nyc. The menu is always fresh and everything is homemade (even the ketchup is bomb).

At brunch here and the chicken and waffles was mediocre. The fried egg was overdone, and the syrup (which spilled all over the dish when the server was placing it down) was way too sweet for me. The chicken itself was fine though could have done with a bit of seasoning. We also had the Caesar salad which was fine.Didn’t love the brunch menu overall, and wish they had more kid friendly options.

This venue is lovely in a wonderful location. From the moment we entered, we felt at home with greetings from the staff. Service was outstanding; food was delicious; beverages were perfect; ambiance made one feel like home. Thank you for wonderful evening. We will return soon and bring family, colleagues and friends.

Another gem in Bantam with a cool vibe. Farm to table so the menu is not expansive ...but creative and what we had ( shared Cobb salad, miso salmon and chicken milanese ) was great. The restaurant reminded of the Outermost Inn on Martha's Vineyard with the scenic view the only thing missing. The Mockingbird was less noisy than the Outermost Inn..good value .....The ambience was great...fireplace was in use...homey / comey feeling. Can't wait to go again especially when summer will yield more things to try from their farm and gardens.

This place is a diamond gem! I love the atmosphere they use farm to table ingredients! Excellent fresh salmon I got the miso salmon entree. Delicious and it came with rice and collard greens! The bacon cheeseburger was well made high quality meat and came with fresh French fries and a bakehouse home made bun. Great ambience and a nice place if you’re on a weekend vacation to beautiful fancy Litchfield. Enjoy this high end restaurant!

Our dining experience was like a warm hug on a cold night! Food was amazing but the ambiance and service brought it to the next level. My burger and fries were off the chart and my dining companions equally loved their swordfish and salmon. We shared dumplings and Brussels for appetizers and a carrot cake (don’t miss this!!!) and a chocolate banana bread pudding for dessert. The wines and cocktails were also on point! Look forward to going back when the sun hasn’t set to enjoy the view of the lake nearby.

Have had dinner three times at Mockingbird and each time the experience has been outstanding. The menu is imaginative and the execution of the dishes is brilliant. The chef has a true culinary flair that is not easy to find in this region.

This is a beautiful restaurant with its inviting bar and fireside seating on a winter’s night. I had never been and was accompanied by a friend who has been often and enjoys occasionally stopping by on her way home from work. Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience last night. We had a reservation and were seated at 7 after enjoying a drink in front of the fireplace. We then had to catch someone’s eye to place an order, to ask for another glass of wine, to determine when our meal might be arriving. We got our hamburger and a salmon dish 1 hour and 40 minutes after ordering. A shared salad and a plate of bread punctuated that long period. There was no update, no sign that anything was amiss. I asked if something had happened and the waiter simply said, “soon.” Soon did not happen. Other tables were served and patrons came and went. We arrived at 6:15 and left at 9:20. It was as if we were invisible. I am hoping this was just a bad night and they were under-staffed but I have never waited that long in my life for a restaurant meal.

This restaurant is a little gem in Bantam, CT. The bread was warm, tasty, and hearty. We shared the pear and blue salad and it was wonderful with a light dressing. For the main course I got the Chicken Milanese and my husband had a burger. The chicken was lightly breaded and and it had a tasty crunch. I loved the cherry tomato topping. The burger was prepared well and tasted great. Our table was near the fireplace, and the spot was very private. We enjoyed the evening.

The two of us went for Thanksgiving evening, and the restaurant had very few people in it, which enhanced the ambience and made the service seem more personalized, and the place was delightfully quiet.

We have been going to Mockingbird for years and have enjoyed it in the past..so it was our first choice this past Saturday night..we were seated and waited 40 minutes to get service...we actually had to ask the (maybe new server) if he was the person we order our meal with as it took forever to even get our drinks..and the place was not busy! I even had to ask for bread for the table! This is unacceptable! We sat near the fireplace which did not help one bit as it was so cold in the restaurant that I had to wear my coat and at one point in those 40 minutes we were going to get up and leave. My husband was going to put another couple of logs on the fire cause the fire was going out as well and had to ask if that was ok and they jumped to it...the food was excellent but the service was a big disappointment and probably won't be back for a while..

Last night I had a reservation at the Mockingbird Kitchen In Bantam, CT. We had been there years ago but wanted to try it again after only getting takeout there during the pandemic. I had a 6:30 reservation for me and a friend. When we walked in at that time, the restaurant seemed warm and inviting and almost full. Unfortunately, that is that last moment I felt any kind of welcome. The bartender acted like she cared not that I had a reservation and didn't ask for my name. She told us to "Sit anywhere" and being unfamiliar with the restaurant, we made our way to a table near a large multi-family group near the fireplace. We sat down, eager to have a glass of wine and catch up with each other. Alas, no one came to our table and the three women who were working acted like we were invisible. I finally went up to the bar and asked who our waitress was and got a blank stare. I sat back down, puzzled, and a woman who appeared to be the owner came towards us, my spirit lifting, but alas again, she was coming to put a log on the fire. She paid us no attention but we desperately asked if we could please get two glasses of wine and some menus. She said yes but apparently never put a drink order in because for the next 45 minutes, we got nothing but bread and water. I wish I could review the food at this point (the water was very cold and the bread very fresh!) but we walked out before we had to beg for someone to take our order. The young woman at the bar said she was sorry and looked sad when I told her they shouldn't have taken our reservation if they couldn't serve us. This was the only time I've ever walked out of a restaurant for not even bad service but no service. We went down the street and had a lovely dinner where someone greeted us at the door and we had wine in our hands in about 5 minutes. They also gave us bread and water but they gave us what Mockingbird totally lacked which was a warm welcome and a sense that they cared about their customers, the service and the food.
