We love coming here. Foods excellent and the staff are very nice. Bar side has a good cozy feel with the fireplace. Lots of options for gluten free.

Had a great birthday dinner there, right next to the fire. Our waitress was really good and the food was fantastic. 10 out of 10 would recommend

We got a groupon and decided to give them a try. First, they have a special menu for groupon users that is thei cheapest items. The service was marginal and the food was less than marginal. Fish and chips was so so. The fish was undercooked, there were parts of raw fish. Calamari is clearly from restaurant depot and not made at the restaurant. All in all very disappointing.

My food was good, the appetizer was great, my moms medium burger was very rare.
BUT the only reason I’m leaving a review is because we waited 2 hours before getting our food (that was cold) and when we finished and requested the check, the waitress didn’t return for 30 minutes… the people sitting beside us left after waiting for over an hour for their food. Don’t go if you have plans after 😬

Three of us ate here and it was pleasant and clean. I had a Cod sandwich that was delicious. My wife had a NY Strip that she said was excellent. Her sister had the roasted chicken that she said was good. We had Boston Cream Pie and Flourless Chocolate Cake for dessert. Not a busy night.

Horrible owners
New in Litchfield. Good food. Wait staff was excellent. Was a slow night for business. I look forward to going again.

While the food was good and the service attentive, the music was depressing and cast an overall pall on what would have been a otherwise pleasant experience. Were I to go again I would hope for something a bit lighter in tone. We went for my birthday for what was to be a plesant dinner for two. We did ask the waiter if there was a way to turn it off after about the third sad song but we were told that wasn't possible, a pity because the menu does look interest. The ahi tuna appetizer was great and was the cavatelli and andouille and my husband enjoyed the flavor of the fish and chips.

Happy Hour beverage and food prices are reasonable; good selection of cocktails, wine, beer and non-alcoholic cocktails. The wagu beef sliders very good, though they don't cook anything rare or medium rare. Wide variety of food choices including desserts.

My husband and I drove down to CT from NH and found this gem on Groupon. They asked if we had a reservation, which we did not, but they sat/served us anyway. When we got the menu it did say that reservations were required but they made zero fuss about it. The food was fantastic and the service was superior. First, we shared the seared tuna app (still talking about it!), then I had the french onion soup and my husband had the crab and corn chowder, for the entrée I had the caprese pasta with grilled chicken and he had the shrimp scampi. No room for dessert but the menu looked delicious as well! Thank you Sage & Salt for a superb meal and experience.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Salt & Sage for a quiet Sunday dinner. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming. Our waitress Sussie was fantastic and super friendly and attentive. We started with appetizers; the spinach and artichoke dip, bruschetta, and pretzel were all delicious and portions weren’t skimpy. Plenty of leftovers! For entrees with had a little of everything, steak that was tender and juicy, shrimp scampi that was rich and creamy, a cod sandwich that was delicious, and a kids portion of the fish and chips.
Overall, it was a relaxing and delicious evening with excellent service and great food. Highly recommend Sage & Sage—we’ll definitely be back!
Special shout out to Susie, she was super friendly and made sure everything was perfect!

Very good happy hour..
The only positive experience dining at Salt and Sage tonight was after we left and drove 3 minutes down the road for ice cream at Arethusa Farms. In all seriousness, very poor experiencing dining-in tonight. Sounds punitive to say, but just the objective truth. Some of our family members have dined at their sister restaurant Salt 2.0 in Torrington and really like it, so they thought we’d give Salt and Sage a try under the impression it’d be a safe bet as well. Complete opposite. To start, our birthday girl ordered first (she had to leave early) and the rest of us waited until others in our party arrived later. She ordered her steak medium rare. Stake came out hardly cooked at all - even the server had an audible shocked response (which we found funny) and just brushed off the issue - it happens... We sent it back asking for it to be cooked more, and to their credit, they did end up cooking an entirely new steak, however the new one still wasn’t close to medium rare. We get it can’t be “perfect” and there’s always a level of subjectivity to the levels of a cooked steak, but this was a clear deviation from medium rare… we ended up just sending it back and having them take it off the bill. Our birthday girl left and the rest of our party arrived. From when the entire group ordered (6 in total) until we got our food, it took just over an hour… seemingly no reason for it to take that long at 5:15pm on a Thursday with a light crowd in-house. At about the hour and 10 minute mark from when we ordered, I got up and asked for a manager mainly out of sheer curiosity why it was taking so long - again, because it was a light crowd and at 5:15 on a Thursday… They said that because of the way their system prioritizes online orders, they got an influx of online orders and ours got pushed to the bottom. Our food came out about 5 minutes after that (1hr 15min since we placed our order…not from when we arrived, from when we placed our order…). I ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla from the happy hour menu. It came out as a cheese quesadilla. So that’s 2 dishes they made wrong now. In all fairness, through, they did take both the steak and the quesadilla off the bill.
I asked for a manager and ended up speaking with the host because they said a manager wasn’t on site and they couldn’t give me a business email to contact. The host said he spoke with the manager and they said they’d offer 2 pasta dishes as their sincere apologies. I told him to not even bother, as 1) we have no plans on returning because of this poor experience , and 2) I’d have zero confidence they’d come out right even if we did.
2 wrong dishes, a displeased birthday girl (who all she wanted for her bday dinner was a steak…), and over an hour to get our food on a slow night….Very displeased with the response from management as well. If this was a Friday night at peak time, okay…understandable (ish). Or if it was one dish that they had made an error on and fixed after the first time, I’d understand and brush it off. But this was just overall a genuinely poor dining experience.
Definitely wouldn’t recommend, nor will we return.
