It's not a Saturday morning without a trip to the Bakehouse. Sperlonga bread is outrageously good. Cupcakes, croissants and pies are hard to resist. Even the day old selections are still yummy

We were planning on eating at the Market Place Tavern but we made a detour when we saw the bakery sign. We took a peek in to check their hours and then went up to the next level to have lunch. We bought some treats and an americano and a cappuccino and went on our merry way. The almond cookie was the best of the bunch and was outstanding. The fresh filled cannoli was also great and the raspberry hand pie was delicious. We didn't try the bread but I'll save that for next time.

It's hard to find great French bread, but you can buy it here. My wife and I ate almost the whole baguette within an hour of getting home. Can't wait to try Jeremy's other offerings.

They are extremely rude! Check out this email they sent to me. Wouldn't return after this incident either way. We unfortunately just had a very poor Christmas experience here. I pre-ordered some croissants as I do every Christmas from them. They are usually delightful! First we received the wrong order. Had to travel all the way back to pick up the correct one. No apologies. Nothing. Only to realize the croissants they gave us had been sitting our for who knows how long. They were stale, not flakey, hard. I'm guessing they accidentally gave away our original order and had to hand us something. Would have been better off just letting us know the truth rather than giving us poor quality items. Mind you...at almost $4 each I did receive a refund after a few more very nasty emails from them. This type of customer service is appalling. Small businesses should be able to uphold some level of respect for their customers. All we wanted was an apology. We understand mistakes are made. Especially this very busy time of year. But this is absolutely unacceptable.

Really first-rate breads, pies, cakes and cookies. Must try this. There's street parking on both sides of the road, but if spots are full you can use the driveway to get to the lot behind the building.

Everything is great here - the baguettes rival anything you'd find in France. The cookies, pies and cakes are all great too. Really wonderful team - Litchfield is lucky to have this wonderful spot right in town!

Let me tell you about The Bakehouse! My sister was getting married in August and we were four weeks out with no cake. I called to see if it was feasible to make a little cutting cake and 100 cupcakes and they said no problem. The owner didn't stress my sister out at all. Honestly the cake far exceeded our expectations in terms of overall look and also taste. It was so good. Not dry like some wedding cakes. We did vanilla cake with buttercream and a raspberry filling and then a variety of cupcakes but the best is chocolate with ganache! Unreal! I'd 100% recommend this place to any Litchfield area brides looking for dessert for their special day! Cheers!

Small town appeal and fresh bread and pastries. Next time I'm in Litchfield, I'll definitely be heading back!

The Bakehouse is located in the old Litchfield Jail at street level. It's easily accessible from the Green (and you will be one of those people who literally slows down traffic by using the cross walk), and there's also 15 minute parking at the lot behind it. The Bakehouse smells delicious! Obviously it has the bread, but there are also cakes, cookies, and other sweets all adding to the amoura. They have a few varieties of bread a day (to bake the whole list would be madness). Their pain au chocolate was delicious, they also came without chocolate and were a good savory-leaning snack. There are two tables and chairs inside under white Christmas lights, and seating outside looking at the Green. They sell Bakehouse shirts for those devotees out there! The cashier was very friendly, explained what was available and how it would taste.
