The food is always excellent. Our waitress was great. She checked on us just the right amount and was very friendly. Our order came out quickly, but we were not rushed. The building was a jail that housed British POWs during the war of 1812 and is very cool inside. I wish they offered tours. Down the road is Litchfield Distillery. They make cocktails at MP with their spirits. Take a tour of the distillery, it is free, and then come here for dinner. We will be back.
Best meatloaf ever! our server Julianne (?) was very helpful in helping with our decision and we loved the LOAF. We were disappointed in the haystack salad though— very bland and enough sticky rice for 4 people. Overall great place with really great desserts too.
I ordered the Sweet & Spicy Chicken Bowl and was disappointed. The dish was mostly rice with very little chicken, and the flavors were lacking. It didn't taste particularly sweet or spicy, and overall it felt bland and unbalanced.
Excellent service food & ambience. The bar was fun!! Krissy the Bartender, was friendly fun and introduced us to new delicious Beers.. would recommend their black and chicken nachos delicious and the crumb cake cheesecake melting food!!!! love this place will definitely be back!!
Was visiting the area and saw the reviews and we tried it - besides great food, service, and value the ambience of a jail made it different and fun!
We enjoyed the old prison , ore delightful waitress and multiple servers. Tough to park but we made it work. Next time will dine at the bar which is sweet!!!!!
We had a nice time. Service was a bit slow, especially since it wasn't busy, but adequate. Food was good. I had the buffalo chicken salad & other than it having too much buffalo sauce on the chicken, it was good. Just my opinion, but I would have been happier with the sauce being on the side. My friend was happy with her meal as well. The bar wasn't busy, so there was no problem in having a conversation that we could both hear, which was very nice!
What a nice place. There were 4 of us (1 vegan) who went there. We found the waitress pleasant, the atmosphere cozy, and the food delicious!
Wonderful food and drink in an old jail. The green goddess salad with shrimp was so tasty and the burgers were cooked just fine
The history, charm, food quality and. service are outstanding. It is well worth dinning here and returning for special occasions or simply for a great evening.

Fun experience. We had an early dinner outside and the weather was beautiful so that made it for us! We planned to check out the happy hour before dinner but they only serve it in the bar so we declined and chose outside on a gorgeous day. Anyhow the menu was typical with lots of choices and the food was decent. I had the tomato bisque soup, Caesar salad and then Mussels and all were tasty. Our server was good but when we walked in the hostess was on the phone and there was another server just standing there while we waited for the hostess for 10 minutes to complete her call before seating us. Thank goodness it was Monday night and wasn't busy. It was just odd to be standing in the doorway for that long and not being acknowledged but that was my only complaint. Probably would have been smarter for her to put the call on hold for a minute to seat us rather than us standing there while she explained the entire menu to the caller. Kind of made us feel unwelcome. Other than that it was a really nice dinner.
The atmosphere and service at The Tavern were great this past Friday night. It was a little chilly outside so we practically had the outdoor deck/seating area to ourselves! The short rib empanadas, Mexican street corn dip, lobster ravioli and mac and cheese were all amazing! Their craft cocktails are always tasty as well. Also, the building has a great history....don't forget to check out the old jail cells in the bar area. We will be back again soon!
Had a great time here with friends. The atmosphere was fun and light, great for talking and enjoying family and friends. The staff were so nice and accommodating we were a bit slow to order. The steak was seasoned perfectly and presented well. I will be going back.
Food was very good. Management has apologized for the poor service and provided a complimentary gift card to make up for the poor experience. We have recently, Oct 2, had dinner at the Marketplace in Woodbury. A very good meal. Our waitress, Jane, was very personable and helpful.
Dining at Market Place Tavern is always a wonderful experience. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. We have eaten their several times and would highly recommend it to anyone!
