Review: Grandpa’s Southern Fried Chicken, Downtown Naugatuck Date of Visit: June 8, 2025 stars I had a deeply disappointing experience at Grandpa’s Southern Fried Chicken in downtown Naugatuck on Sunday, June 8, 2025. I ordered Southern Fried Chicken for pickup, but when I arrived, I found it covered in a creamy sauce—something the employee never mentioned when I placed my order. As someone with a dairy allergy, this was a serious issue, as the sauce could have caused a health problem. I contacted the store immediately and was told to return for a fix. When I got there, I explained that I wasn’t informed about the sauce and requested a sauce-free replacement due to my allergy. Shockingly, the staff refused to offer a complimentary substitution and told me I’d have to buy a new item. I asked to speak to a manager, but was told none was available. The employee then called someone named Carlos, who they said was the owner, and he also refused to help. I left the food behind, feeling completely dismissed and upset. I’ve never been to a restaurant that wouldn’t accommodate a simple substitution, especially for an allergy-related issue. I couldn’t help but wonder if my skin color played a role in how I was treated, which made the experience even more hurtful. This level of poor customer service and lack of empathy is unacceptable. I urge Grandpa’s to train staff on clear communication and allergy accommodations. I’d also like to know if others have had similar experiences—has this happened to anyone else? I won’t be returning and hope the management addresses this seriously.

Brought 10 members of my family in tonight for my last night in Connecticut dinner before I head home to Iowa tomorrow. The menu was huge...the portions were huge...the food was delicious...and Brittany was WONDERFUL taking care of our every need!

I live in naugatuck and I drive by this place everyday and finally decided to go ahead and give this place a try. There's a lot of positive things to say and I only have one word for it and it's totally DELICIOUS. And yes the flower in the pic is edible and very good. I give this place a 10 out of 10. Definitely going back to try different food. Totally recommend this place you won't regret it. ?

One of my favorite spots in naugatuck. All around cozy with any food option you could want including homestyle dishes. I love the soups and salads. All the waitresses work hard and are so friendly.

The newly redecorated JK's looks God awful. It is absolutely HIDEOUS! The colors are absolutely tacky and in such poor taste. Not to mention; they lied to the public. In the newspaper, it was said that we would still be able to order their famous JK's Texas Hot Weiners only to turn around and NOT make them. JK's had a HUGE following. If the new owners were smart, they would have kept their following. Instead, they made the place look completely ugly and the counter was removed so the many people that came alone, and sat at the counter, now can't. I am SO TIRED of going out and finding out that almost ALL of the establishments are of some type of Latin and DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH! SPEAK THE LANGUAGE OF YOUR CUSTOMER DAMMIT.
