Born in Jamaica. My family cooks Jamaican food. My boyfriend loves Jamaican food. Moved here from the Bronx where there's a Jamaican restaurant on damn near every block. I must say Vintage does not disappoint, except on Sundays & Mondays when they think its okay to close. Lol. I always get the same thing here- oxtail, rice and peas and mac or plantains. And I can say that I've never had a bad experience with my meal. Eventually, ill try something else but hey, if it aint broke, don't break it! lol I come here once a week every other week usually. Conveniently tucked in on the "downtown" area of Naugy. Parking across the street and on the side down the alley and if you're lucky, right in front of the restaurant. The inside is always clean and has an aroma that reminds me of my moms house on Sunday. Whitney- the server and owner is always friendly. So I would recommend to anyone wanting to try authentic Jamaican food. Definitely a jem for Naugatuck. Plus, they offer Ting, & Jamaican Champagne. All that's missing is some rum punch ;) My only complaint is that the plantains are more tostones, then the juicy fried plantains that I like. But that's a personal preference.

I've had the oxtail and the Curry goat. Both were awesome but I'd give the nod to the Curry goat. Really next level stuff. Definitely explore the menu here because it's all good.

I'd never had Jamaican food before today, and my fiancé loves it, so tonight I checked out Yelp and was surprised to find that this little diamond has been right here in Naugatuck for the last year and a half. The place has a nice comfortable feel, and it's clean and newly redone from the old place it had been in years past (a barber shop, maybe?). We got there around 3:30 p.m. on a Saturday, and I liked that the overhead lights were off because there was enough daylight to create a cozy ambience. The owner was the only there to take orders and cook, and she was nice and friendly and explained menu ingredients to us. She told us we could pay later and invited us to have a seat. She brought our food and stopped by our table to see if we were happy or needed anything. She is super friendly! I don't like to eat meat, so I was happy to see they had shrimp on the menu - with a handful of marinating selections (like j*** shrimp, a sweet option, and a few other flavors). I got the j*** shrimp, macaroni and cheese (which was sooo tasty seasoned and the perfect al dente), cabbage, and plantains - and all of it was yummy! They were out of candied yams, or I would have tried that too. My guy got oxtail and rice and beans, and he said it was really good. He liked the ginger beer too. Because we got a few extra sides, it came to $40., and with tip, $48. It was a nice experience (food, environment, and the host), so it was totally worth the cost. I didn't think I'd like Jamaican food, but I did. I recommend this place, and we will be back! Check this place out. You'll be glad you did!

I'm so happy to finally have a Carribbean restaurant in my town. They can get a little expensive but, it is soooooooooo worth it. I was able to have dinner twice from the plate i bought last night. It was very delicious. They're not fast food so you may have to wait for certain foods. If you call ahead they can have it prepared.

Had the Curry Chicken today and it was excellent, not too spicy. I planned to eat only half and finish the medium. Just came back from Jamaica and this is true authentic food. Coming back soon.

Fast friendly service. However way to spicy that I had to throw it away all except the plantains. I had the curry goat with rice and peas. So upset that I spent $13.85 for a med and my mouth was on 🔥. I've had curry goat at lots of places but this was not a good experience 😒

People are very nice. Like the crab legs and curry chicken. Rice and peas not good need more flavor.

"Stir it Up" Across from Riteaid and next door to Cumberland Farms on Rubber Ave is a little gem that you don't want to miss. Vintage Caribbean Restaurant is clean, bright, and has a nice dining area to enjoy some amazing caribbean food. As I walked up to the counter to see what looked good on the menu, there was a hot case with warming trays filled with all of the owner's beautiful caribbean creations. She stirred each item while showing them to me. I stood there and began to hear Bob Marley's "Stir it Up" playing in my mind. Lol Stir it up; little darlin; Stir it up, come on baby. Come on and stir it up; little darlin; stir it up, O-oh ! She showed me the oxtail, j*** chicken, curry chicken, curry goat, stewed chicken, j*** pork, salmon, cabbage, mac & cheese, candied yams and more. From the first bite to the last, I kept saying Wow to myself. Wow, wow, wow ! The chicken was fall apart fork tender, the curry sauce was incredible, the cabbage was delicious, the rice and peas were well seasoned, and the mac & cheese was great. When I paid for my lunch, the owner asked how everything was and I couldn't help but to continue to say, "Wow". Next time I'd like to have the curry goat or the oxtail.

After going back and forth 100x on Yelp for good food to be delivered to me here at the Marriott in Waterbury, I decided on Vintage. I chose typical Caribbean fare, and was not disappointed. I was contacted by an attentive staff to review my order and make sure everything was properly ordered. Food was delivered promptly and ahead of schedule by GrubHub, piping hot! I ate 1 of 2 of my beef patties in the elevator to the hotel room and burnt my mouth I was so hungry! J*** wings and a large oxtail platter didn't disappoint! If you are looking for traditional Caribbean fare that is well done, I would def give them a try!
