Rooster's Chicken & Waffles

Love love staff is great food is bussin like my kids say lol which is great my go to spot when looking for good wings.

Parking: There's parking but just a few in front of restaurant but there is some right on street which is just a couple of more steps from restaurants that's it.. u will find parking

So this evening, 12/19/24, around 5 pm, I decided to order chicken for family. I NEVER EVER had a problem with Rooster Chicken in New Britain before. I've been patronizing this spot for more than a year, but no more. I have serious concerns about personal hygiene and the unsanitary practices of the 3 men working at this takeout, preparing and handling the food because of their dirty and grimey appearance. This is downright deplorable!!! These men didn't look clean at all. One guy showed up for work and walked in right off the streets. He took his jacket off and went straight to the fry area and got busy with handling the food without first washing his hands. He just went right in! This same person had three very large matted, stiff, and dusty-looking locks protruding from the front of his hairline, sticking straight out over his forehead like a diving board. These locks were clearly uncovered and would protrude over the food as he worked to fry and placed the cooked orders in each container to go. The appearance of his matted hair looked dirty & nasty. Then, there was another male worker who was working the cash register. He at least was wearing a fitted hat to cover his hair, but in spite of this, he didn't look too clean either. His responsibility was to take your order and manage the cash register. After the order and transaction were completed, I observed him go back in the food prep area and started pulling chicken out of the refrigerator, prepping and then frying the food again, without the benefit of washing his hands after touching the cash register
and the dirty money. It was disgusted and appauling watching these unsanitary practices. In total, at this hour of the evening, there were 3 men working, and all 3 had unkempt facial hair/beards handling food without coverings for their facial hair. This place needs to be cited by the local health department. Did these establishments learn anything from the pandemic?

The food was exquisite, it was waffle with chicken tenders, the meat was very juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside, the potatoes were all a fresh delight, just cooked.

Unbelievable value in this day and age. We order lunch multipule times a week from restaurants in New Britain and the amount of food per dollar is hard to beat.

The best chicken north of the south........10 piece chicken strips and waffle fries. All kinds of sauce. The staff are nice and respectful. I get my chicken fix every week here.

Food was not good Mac and cheese was very dry mashed potatoes looked like it was cooked with water very bland taste and the breading on chicken tasted like oil I will not be returning , service was great food was not

Got some food here today and threw it up immediately when I got home. All that chicken and waffles came right back up. Not eating here again. Unclean.

I ordered Honey garlic 2 times and both times they just friend chicken and put nothing on it. They never called to tell me they did not have honey garlic.

The guy working there was great, he showed me what the portion sizes were and recommended some great sauces and was very friendly. He got my order together quickly and it was good. The location isn't great. A guy walked in from the smoke shop next door and nearly gave us a contact high. There's not much to the place besides a take out counter. The best thing going for the place was the guy working there. I wish I had his name.
