My mother isn't able to do stairs or high top tables so they opened another room for us. Everyone was helpful and pleasant and professional. Food was amazing. Definitely recommend it.

Overall just an average experience..food was good and server was very nice and helpful but it all took too long to get drinks and food service..

loved it. Excellent food, great server (Ria?) who was attentive without being intrusive and low key energy without intruding into conversation. Cant wait to return.

My husband and I were looking for a place to go to to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and we came across the Foundry specifically because they advertised St. Patrick's Day mocktails. There was only one mocktail on their menu specifically for St. Patrick's Day but it was delicious and a lot of places don't even have that. Plus, their corn beef and cabbage dinner was splendid and came out very quickly, so overall we were very satisfied with the quality of the food and the overall atmosphere.

Foundry Kitchen & Tavern in Sandy Hook offers a solid dining experience that blends rustic charm with thoughtful, ingredient-driven cuisine. Set in a beautifully restored historic building along the Pootatuck River, the ambiance is warm and inviting, making it a great choice for a relaxed meal in a cozy setting. The menu focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients, delivering well-executed dishes that showcase a balance of creativity and comfort. The beverage selection is well-rounded, with a good mix of craft beers, wines, and cocktails that complement the food nicely. While the flavors are satisfying and the presentation well-considered, there are moments where the dishes, while enjoyable, don't push beyond expectations. Service is attentive and welcoming, with a knowledgeable staff that enhances the overall experience. While not overly formal, the approach is friendly and efficient, striking a nice balance between professionalism and a relaxed, approachable atmosphere. Overall, Foundry Kitchen & Tavern is a solid choice for those looking for a good meal in a charming setting. While it may not be the most groundbreaking dining experience, it delivers on quality, ambiance, and hospitality, making it a worthwhile stop for locals and visitors alike.

The online menu is not correct. The restaurant has complete changed its cuisine. It's some very poor version of Asian inspired. Horribly. Our server told us that he has asked the owners to update the online menu to reflect the change. Anyway - run don't walk - away - unless you like overcooked and fried food with an Asian fair.

This was a terrific find. We were at Shepaug Dam watching for eagles and got hungry... what luck that the Foundry Kitchen & Tavern is located nearby in the center of the charming village of Sandy Hook. It's also about two minutes off I-84 if you happen to be driving by.

My friend and I got the street corn nachos with chicken. Best nachos I've ever eaten!

The dining room is small and shared with the bar, and is a little loud for conversation. The restaurant features nice decor. Food is good, the service was excellent. The entrance is a bit confusing, as the host is in the dining room not the foyer. Overall great experience, food and prices. Ample parking a short walking distance away. They feature some vegan dishes which is what brought us there. Sandy Hook is conveniently located right off 84.

Vegetarian options: There are a few vegan options to choose.

Parking: Look for it on the left just past the corner buildings going up Glen Rd.

Kid-friendliness: The kids i saw were enjoying themselves, there are typical kid menu choices.

Stopped here for lunch while traveling through the area. Great place for a beer and a fresh made meal! They have a nice outdoor space as well! Little pricey but I don’t usually mind that if you can tell it’s higher quality food prep and ingredients

Served my chicken medium rare. Waitress was nice enough taking it away but I won’t be returning.

My wife and I have been longtime fans of the Foundry. When it comes to the food and drinks, there are no wrong choices - from the steak and eggs at brunch to the vegan dumplings, it’s all top-notch. The staff is incredibly kind and throughout the years they’ve been able to maintain an extremely warm sense of hospitality.
We recently used their loft space for both our Rehearsal Dinner and my wife’s bridal shower. Both events ran seamlessly and really impressed our guests visiting from out of town. They can’t stop raving about the food and the beautiful space! Tori was a pleasure to work with leading up to our events and was there day-of to make sure everything ran smoothly. The charm of the entire restaurant is really something special - a true gem in Sandy Hook.

Our recent visit to this restaurant was, unfortunately, one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. I ordered the special Togorashi 8oz filet mignon, while my wife opted for the fried chicken sandwich. The steak, which was supposed to be 8oz, appeared to be no more than 5oz. Despite ordering it medium, it was served completely rare. After sending it back, it returned 10 minutes later with the edges cooked to medium but the center still rare. Additionally, the beef tasted old. The accompanying rice was hard and crunchy, topped with an unappetizing chili sauce. The only redeeming part of the dish was the shishito peppers, which were actually tasty.

The fried chicken sandwich was equally disgusting. It was served in a thick layer of grease that coated the bottom of the parchment paper-lined metal dish. My wife inadvertently ate some of the soggy paper that had stuck to the bottom of the roll. The chicken seemed to have been cooked in oil that wasn’t at the right temperature, resulting in a greasy, inedible mess.
While our server was pleasant, she never inquired about the quality of our food, likely aware of the kitchen’s shortcomings.
