Ridiculously good food. I wasn't really sure if I liked Indian food until I came here. Maybe the other places I'd tried were just mid, or maybe this place is just exceptional. Either way, if you're on the fence, definitely try it. Everything I've had here has been excellent, staff is friendly and the place is inviting and immaculately clean. Lunch special is a solid deal, I'll be back for sure.
First time dining at Tamarind and it was a great experience. Everything was delicious especially the Rajasthani Laal Maas (Goat Curry). It was the most tender goat I’ve ever tasted. I highly recommend this restaurant over Jewels of Himalayan another local restaurant in town. I’ve eaten at both restaurants and Tamarind surpasses by far.
Really great Indian food in Newtown, CT. We have had “the other place” down the road and they cannot compare. Tamarind is a little hidden gem in Newtown and we would recommend to anyone wanting Indian food. Service was good and restaurant was cute. Will definitely go back here.

they are very accomodating to vegans, the portions are large, and the prices are fair. The server was also very friendly.Very excited that this place opened in Newyown, especially for vegans/vegetarians.
