We celebrated my daughter’s birthday at Tambascio’s Restaurant in Newtown, CT, and it was amazing! The owner was super friendly, the staff was attentive, and the service was excellent from start to finish. The Italian food was fresh and delicious, portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. The family-friendly atmosphere and warm ambiance made it the perfect place for our celebration. If you’re looking for the best Italian restaurant in Newtown CT with great food, great service, and a welcoming vibe, I highly recommend Tambascio’s!

Me and my family were traveling from NY looking for a place to eat late night on the road and didn’t realize they were closing shorty until we were seated however, the staff were very hospitable and kind & never brought it up. We apologized for the inconvenience when we realized & our waitress reassured us and made us feel very welcomed and not rushed. The food was so good, we all loved our meals, very well cooked! 10/10 food & 10/10 service and very kind staff with a cozy atmosphere. Thank you again!

We made a 5pm reservation & were seated immediately upon arrival. Excellent food, friendly service, bread was homemade & heavenly. 3 of us had the Lobster Ravioli with a gorganzola sauce with tiny pieces of asparagus which was superb. 1 other friend had a pizza with eggplant that looked amazingly delicious. Waiter said crust was made from same dough as bread so I'm sure it was wonderful. Would definitely dine there again.
We also shared the eggplant fries as an appetizer... deelish!!
And we had Taramisu for dessert fabulous!!

There is a reason this place is rated as good as it is. I have been taking up from this restaurant for years now. I two situations that 99% of all restaurants would not handle this way. One time it was snowing outside I drove 20 minutes to do my take out the order had one item missing. The owner sent someone in the snow to bring me what was not in my order. The second thing was I was waiting to get my food and it took a while and they gave me a bottle of wine they did not have to do either one one of those things. Lastly and maybe the most important is there food is ridiculously good. I keep going back because the food is consistent and amazing every single time. Between the customer service and the food it's hard to find a restaurant like this anywhere.

This review is evidence that my girlfriend has more patience and tact than I do. I love you, baby, but I can't help myself.

We went here last Friday with a group of friends. My girlfriend ordered the salmon. It came back uncooked and completely raw. It was a bummer.

We had already waited a bit for our meals to arrive, so waiting for another to be made for her would've taken too long. She decided against ordering anything else as she was turned off to the experience.

We were with a group so you can imagine how awkward this can be. I wanted her to order something for the massive inconvenience. She again refused. I got annoyed with her. She got annoyed with me.

She was kind to the staff in her refusal of another meal though and the Waitress was apologetic.

Shortly after, I believe it was the owner who came over to our table to specifically ask if we were OK and why my girlfriend didn't have a plate in front of her.

I'm speculating, but I think he already knew why - hence the visit to our table to ask. This is why I'm still chapped and writing a review about the experience. An uncooked fish happens, but the follow-up from management is what really sticks. Maybe I'm wrong though. Maybe he really didn't know and was just making his rounds to patrons.

She insisted on being nice and said nothing was wrong. I didn't take the same approach. I let him know her salmon wasn't cooked. He said sorry, but we never saw or heard from him or anyone else again on the matter. The waitress was more apologetic than this gentleman was.

Maybe this place is great. But, unfortunately, our first experience wasn't and we won't risk another. She went to a restaurant with friends for dinner and left without having one. While the waitress was nice and apologetic, no one with authority seemed to give that much of a crap.

The best part of the meal was how my annoyance and her annoyance combined into an entertaining argument at the table between us over an uncooked piece of salmon.

My friends enjoyed that part and were highly entertained at she and I barking at each other. I'm thankful my girlfriend and I can joke about it now. At the time, she probably wanted to stab me with a butter knife.

Long story short - teach your chef how to cook salmon and don't leave the patron without something to eat in its place, even if they refuse another item. At the very least, a glass of wine or something for the trouble would've been a nice gesture, especially given the cost of everything else.

Note - my meal was fine. But it was Italian. This area has no lack of it.

Mid December, we discovered Tambascio's Italian grill as it was listed as one of the top Italian restaurants in Fairfield County based on customer reviews and decided to try it out for a birthday dinner.

We have to say that it did not disappoint. It reminded us of an old school Italian family restaurant with great classics and specials. The food had great flavor, fresh ingredients and was prepared rather quickly (Chicken & Gnocchi special, Veal Parmesan & Frutti Di Mare). We enjoyed it with some glasses of their house Chianti, which we recommend. The rolls are fresh baked, and we also added on the house salad with their house vinaigrette, which is really good. Being that it was a birthday celebration, they brought over a slice of Lemon Cello cake and sang Happy Birthday.

We thought the service was a little slow at first but it's a very relaxed, intimate setting. The owner John came over to introduce himself and he was very pleasant. It was great speaking with him and you can see he has a love of cooking Italian cuisine. He even offered us some Lemon Cello that he made, which was great.

Overall, great experience with great food and we plan on going back soon.
