honestly the best pizza / Italian food I've had in a long time. Thank you for many wonderful meals this summer, and I'll see you in a few months.
We absolutely love coming to Sapore! When you dine in, you are treated like family. The food is spectacular no matter what you get. We have tried just about every pizza, multiple pasta dishes and sandwiches and we have never had something bad. I recently brought an out of town family member who was craving a Chicken Parm Grinder and he said it was the best he had had in a decade.
It’s always a good time to eat at Sapore but I gotta say, going during their happy hour menu time is really amazing. So much to choose from and all delicious.

Went out for lunch with my girlfriend after seeing a reel on fb . Had French onion soup the mussels lemon creamy and gluten free chicken Cesar sandwich on a beautiful cauliflower crust and the
Short rib ciabatta with mozzarella and sautéed broccoli rabe and I have to say , best sandwiches ever and my girlfriend loved her gluten free sandwich as well . Place is really clean , modern and the vibe is just chill … definitely more than just a “pizzeria” . Very good food and good prices as well .. now I have to try it for dinner ! Best service ever as well!!!

Ordered a plain cheese pizza for pickup at 6:23 Friday night. Was told it would take 40 minutes which is a bit long for 1 single cheese pizza but on a Friday night is somewhat understandable. Got to the restaurant at 7:03, paid and tipped. Was told it would take a few more minutes. Then a few more minutes. Then a few more minutes. If I hadn't paid already I would have left and ordered something on the way home. Finally at 7:33 I got the pizza. Drove 15 minutes home and it was just ok. Half of the pizza crust was so black my daughter wouldn't eat it. The other half was edible for her. The pizza was just ok. It was a decent size but not spectacular and definitely not worth an hour and 10 minute wait. There is no reason it should take this long for a plain cheese pizza. They must have either given our pizza to someone else or were only focused on the people in the bar. We passed at least 8 pizza places I'd rather go to with at most a 25 minute wait and a lower price tag. They're lucky they're the only show in town. Unfortunately I will not be back again even though I was very interested in more items on the menu. Go to East Lyme for good service and good pizza at a reasonable price point if you want pizza. Good luck.

Our server Tes was amazing. Really chill and knew a lot about the menu.
The pizza was superb. By far, one of the top three pizza places in my life. The margarita 2.0 is just next level. The creamy Barada, the fresh basil on Point. The Crust is amazing. Thin crispy, bubbly, chewy everything one would look for in a delicious pizza crust. You could basically put any topping on this pizza and it’s gonna rock.

The service was so slow tonight. When my pizza was delivered it had a large piece of plastic in it. The waitress did nothing about it. The owner apologized and told me “where it came from”. They did not offer any thing off of our bill until I questioned it. I find this incomprehensible since the last time we ate here we had a hair in our pizza and the same waitress laughed.

07.26.25 *WRITTEN REVIEW Big Al’s Reel Reviews – EP.143 Sapore Pizzeria Town of Old Lyme, CT This morning, I dropped a post asking if any restaurants wanted to invite Big Al’s Reel Reviews to their spot—and guess who hit me up? Sapore Pizzeria in Old Lyme. So I pulled up—and let me tell you right now… this one felt special the minute I walked through that door. The welcome? Warm. The vibe? Bustling. The atmosphere? Absolutely amazing—families dining, good conversation, and a team that made me feel like I’d been coming there for years. My server, Sarah, was top notch—attentive, kind, and on point from the jump. The owners were there as well, and you could feel the pride in the place. Turns out, the owner is originally from Naples, Italy and used to work for Illiano’s before opening this place six years ago. That Naples-to-Old-Lyme pizza lineage is real. And then something beautiful happened… A true B.A.R.R.fan—Troy Gaston—saw I was at Sapore and drove over just to show love. So I invited him to sit down and have dinner with me. That’s what this is all about: community, connection, and real support from real people. Troy’s a solid dude and a subscriber, and I appreciated him being part of this experience. Here’s what I ordered: 1. Meatballs in Vodka Sauce – $11 Served with toasted ciabatta. These were tender and flavorful, and the vodka sauce was creamy and smooth. A perfect starter. 💣 2. New York-Style Cheese Pizza (17”) – $20.50 This right here was the star of the show. Thin, crispy, cheesy, and cooked just right. I gave this a DOUBLE 💣💣 — one of the best I’ve had on the shoreline. 3. Chicken Parmigiana Bolognese – $24 Served over penne pasta with rich, meaty bolognese. This was another 💣. Classic flavor, hearty sauce, and that perfect comfort-food bite. And then… out came a complimentary tiramisu—a gift from the kitchen. That kind of gesture speaks volumes. The tiramisu was absolutely delicious, a smooth and sweet way to end an already dope meal. The food was fire. The service was flawless. The atmosphere was family-friendly and full of good energy. And the fact that they reached out and invited me in? That means something. Especially after what happened yesterday. Sapore didn’t just pass the test— They’re officially a Big Al’s 💎 Gem Spot. It’s worth checking out—and if you go, make sure you tell ‘em, Big Al sent you! ☝🏾❤️ - Big Al Mayo “See you on the Rebound, Peace✌🏾out”
My wife and i had an incredible experience once again at Sapore. Mary took us to our table and was very kind and helpful. Hanna was our server/bartender and was terrific! My wife had the Basil chicken which she loved, I had the pepperoni pizza which was great and the arrancini we both thought was the best we have ever tried. All the other staff members were kind and Mary and Hanna enhanced the evening. Another flawless trip to Sapore and we'll be back again this week before finishing vacation!
