Worse experience in my lifetime ordering a single donut. Never been to Duck Donuts but was recommended on Instagram as best place in CT for a donut.
You walk in and presented with kiosk to order. Staff says order from kiosk. No selection to visibly see like most all other donut shops. OK no problem. Ordered on kiosk. Payment is card only. They don't cash.
Now you wait. And wait. Staff are moving but does not look efficient. Not sure how long it should take but my single donut (1 donut) took 15 minutes to make. It was not busy either. Others there were waiting too.
Actual donut was not big. Not worth nearly $3.00 for a single donut. I will not be returning. I don't see the hype.

We drove by this place dozens of times and decided to try it today. The only regret I have is not stoping sooner. They make the donuts fresh in front of you and the lady who worked there was very patient with my 4 year old that could not make up his mind. We ate at the location as this was my son’s choice. The lady came over to make sure everything was going good. The staff was awesome and truly one of the best donuts I’ve had.

Jurany is the excitement in this place. As a business owner I understand the value of high energy and excitement. She is True asset to duck donuts. Now the donuts are amazing. It was my first time here and I thought it was fantastic. The warmth of donut and explosive flavor brought me back to my childhood when we were young and we used to eat warm donuts. Not this cold garbage from Dunkin donuts. This place is a true treasure.

Absolutely fantastic donuts. Highly fresh (I watched the staffer pour the batter into the heated oil). It just doesn't get better than that.
Each donut is custom built. You need to remember this as you cannot go to this place in a hurry. Oh yes, the coffee is outstanding too. Back to the donuts: they are all custom built. So if it is crowded or really busy, it is going to take some time.
Try to be patient, as it is worth it. Or go during an off-hour at some point during the day. The team at Duck Donuts handles every donut like it is a masterpiece. One donut isn't a long wait. A dozen is going to take some time (order online for an easier experience and pickup in-store).
The cool thing; I've had Duck Donuts since before this store opened (I had them in South Carolina many times). The quality is 100% consistent and always excellent. They are a specific kind of donut (no filling(s) inside). They are different than Krispy Kreme, Mochinut, Dunkin, etc.. I wouldn't put Dunkin in the league with Duck anyway. The ingredients are all top quality. It's just an excellent donut.

I just ordered one doughnut to go with my coffee on my way to work and had planned to come back tomorrow and buy two dozen for my team. However, this was supposed to be a “freshly” made doughnut. But it taste absolutely disgusting. I feel it was fried in old oil and in a dirty pan. I called the store and reached the gentleman that had just served me and he said they just “changed the oil less than a week ago.” Well there you have it, they’re not using clean oil and not cleaning their pans daily. I told him that’s unacceptable to use grease that sat for several days and that’s why it has that old and disgusting taste. Also, while serving food, he was eating and drinking. They really need to check their hygiene issues.

The donuts are made fresh when you order them and then are dressed according to whatever flavors you chose and because they only make donuts in the traditional ring shape, there are no filled donuts ie ones with jelly, custard, cremes, etc. the problem with that is that if you don’t eat them right away, you’re missing out so a 10-15 minute ride home and they were already on the cooler side (but still slightly warm). I bought 6 and sampled all of them. The only stand out to me was the plain glazed which is very reminiscent of a Krispy Kreme glazed but denser. The second best was the strawberry frosted with rainbow sprinkles and the worst one was whatever the chocolate one was. All of the other flavors were just too much and too sweet, I feel like the flavors and frostings might be better drizzled on instead of dipped. Sadly, at essentially $2 a donut (it was close to $14 for a half a dozen), it just doesn’t seem like a place worth going out of one’s way to go and get unless you live close by or are going to eat them in your car.
