Puerto Vallarta in Orange has been our go to Mexican restaurant for nearly a decade but after our experience on Friday night we will not return! First of all, they stopped giving normal tortilla chips w the salsa, second, when we ordered the queso cheese dip appetizer they served it with less than 20 chips on the side. When we still had some dip left we asked for more chips and they brought out a tiny plate with about 15 more chips! We got the bill that was nearly $90 for 2 orders of fajitas, the dip and 2 sodas and really looked over the bill and it turns out that we got charged $3.99 for the additional chips!! You shouldn’t be charged for chips at a Mexican restaurant…that would be like being charged for bread at an Italian restaurant. Very disappointed in the nickel and diming and will not be back

I live a couple towns away so I call to order for pick up and they never answer the phone. So then im stuck waiting, yet the host are always by the phone or with it in their hand when you get there. It's so unprofessional. I no longer want to dine there anymore.

Very poor customer service and terrible organization. We were told the wait time would be 25 minutes, but we ended up waiting over an hour and a half. Meanwhile, the hostess clearly gave priority to people she knew and seated them before us. That was completely unfair and unprofessional.

I would not recommend this place if you’re coming with children.

I ordered a tomahawk steak medium, and it was served well done. I had to send it back, and it took an excessive amount of time to get the replacement. It honestly felt intentional.

Overall, a very disappointing experience. I will not be returning.

Dinner | $100+ | February 13, 2026

Earlier today (February 13th), I called to reserve a table for three people for 7 PM. The gentleman who answered was professional, took my name and phone number, and clearly confirmed the reservation.

However, when we arrived at 7 PM, we were told that my name was not in the system. Despite explaining that I had called earlier and received confirmation, there was no acknowledgment or apology from the front desk staff. We were eventually seated at a table near the kitchen, which was disappointing, especially given the occasion.

The attitude of the lady at the front desk felt dismissive and unprofessional. A simple apology and some understanding would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, that initial interaction set a negative tone for the evening.

The food itself was average. However, I do want to recognize the gentleman who served us — he was kind, attentive, and professional. His service was the highlight of the evening and helped make the experience somewhat better despite the rocky start.

It was especially disappointing because this was meant to be part of our Valentine’s Day Eve celebration. The lack of accountability and courtesy overshadowed what should have been a special evening.

Sadly, this was one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I’ve had. Respect and basic professionalism go a long way in hospitality.

Pedro, the manager, once again delivered an exceptional experience. He recommended the tomahawk steak, and it exceeded every expectation twas perfectly cooked with incredible flavor. Our waiter Andres was attentive and professional, making the evening seamless. The mariachis added a wonderful touch and truly elevated the atmosphere. Overall, we had an exceptional dining experience and look forward to returning!

The chile con queso was great! I also really enjoyed the tacos de birria—just wished it could have come with a side of rice and refried beans and maybe some radishes included. I was also hoping for horchata but that is not on the menu. The chicken fajitas are pretty good! The chips and salsa dip were flavorful. An overall tasty and filling meal. Our server Didier was very attentive and considerate. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and the waiters and waitresses are well-dressed. There was no mariachi band tonight (unfortunately!).
