I used to love this place. Was there last year and it was just barely ok. Tonight we decided to go back. Waited 1.5 hours to only be told. Sorry we are out if what you ordered. No apology. Just attitude. Will never go there again. They have gone down hill dramatically. I ended up at 99 restaurant at 9:50 pm and had wonderful service and food in 5 minutes. Hoofs is a joke. I would not recommend. Never again.

We went on Saturday night for dinner. The food was good but our Waiter was awful. Never check on us through out our meal. Then when he did we were finished with the meal and he thought we never go our food. No impressed with Waiter at all.

I normally don’t leave reviews, especially for places I genuinely enjoy, but I feel the need to share my experience from tonight. We had an 8:00 pm reservation at Hoofs. When we arrived, the host seemed overwhelmed and frazzled. I let her know we had a reservation, but she didn’t check our name or confirm anything — she just said it would be a 15-minute wait because the kitchen was behind due to a new system.
We were okay with waiting, but things felt disorganized. After 15 minutes, we asked if we were on the list since she never actually took our name. At that point, we noticed they were still accepting walk-ins even though they clearly couldn’t keep up. A fellow diner told us they had a 7:30 pm reservation and still hadn’t ordered food by 8:15 — they had only just received drinks.
I understand that restaurants have off nights, but there are a few things that were really frustrating:
1. If you’re unable to keep up, online reservations should be paused.
2. Guests should be told honestly how long the delay might be — especially those with reservations.
3. Walk-ins should not be accepted when there’s already a significant backup.
As someone who is pregnant, I make reservations in advance to avoid exactly this kind of situation. Sadly, this visit left me disappointed in a place I used to look forward to. I hope this was just a rare off night — but communication and organization really need improvement.
The food, pace of service, and atmosphere at Hoof’s is absolutely incredible! Herman was an amazing server and tailored our dining experience to our needs. 10/10 recommend!

The food (for me filet minion and for my gf pan seared scallops over lobster rigatoni) was PHENOMENAL.

If one wants good Italian food keep driving into Rhode Island. I was looking forward to trying Hoofs for some time. Food was mediocre at best. Service was very good. Waitress very attentive and professional. Wish I could say that about everything else.

We were looking forward to a great meal, unfortunately we were underwhelmed with the food we ordered. The Chicken Oscar was not good, the sauce was confusing did not taste like Francese, mash potatoes were watery so much sauce on the plate it was swimming. No favor the dish ingredients do not work well together. Felt rushed waiter kept stopping by table seemed like every 5 minutes. Unfortunately will not go back to many great Italian restaurants in RI.

I had the pleasure of dining at Hoof's Thursday evening. This fresh new Italian Bistro was exceptional, start to finish. Brian greeted me at the door and placed me in Lou's station at the bar. Nick came out of the kitchen to welcome me and my experience was off to a great start. The menu selections were clearly stated, ledgeable and precise. The vibe was so cool, music, decor, space and comfort were spot on. I had a fresh pasta dish with shitake mushrooms and pancetta tossed in a light, silky cream sauce that was spectacular. From portion size to presentation and plate temperature, I new I was in for a real unique dining experience. Lou offered fresh, hand grated cheese and cracked pepper and all was good. The warmth and friendly wait staff and kitchen staff just made me feel that much more welcome. This is the norm at Hoof's. Don't wait, just go!
