The Courthouse Bar & Grille is the place to be in Putnam, CT! From the food, atmosphere, and service, I am always impressed! It’s the perfect place to go to meet a friend for lunch or have a family dinner. They have a wide selection of entrees and drinks! I LOVE their wraps! I’m also love to see how involved they are with the community! Great place. 10/10 ?

We had returned to The Courthouse, after a 6 year hiatus, as we had heard it was recently sold. It had been less than awesome in the past so we thought we would try it again under new ownership.
Still less than awesome.
The new owner should really consider updating the decor to reflect a "courthouse vibe". Most of the decor looks like remnants from a bad yard sale. The windows from the street look like they could use a good cleaning.

The menu has not changed at all.
There are many choices, but I am not sure how an appetizer of 2 meatballs should cost $14.
The lobster roll and Mahi Mahi were very good. The fries were yummy.
The service was average, seeing as it was not busy. I realize it is difficult to get help in the service industry these days. Our server had a surgical boot on.
I think it will be another year before we attempt to visit again.

Unfortunately, 9 times out of 10, their “kitchen is closed” by 9pm though their website says they’re open till 10 pm. Maybe changing the closing time accordingly would be a good idea!

My hubby and I (from Worcester) always meet my brother, Tom, at The Courthouse. It's pretty much halfway between Leeds CT and Worcester. The food and service has always been great but we've made an important discovery....the owner and wait staff have hearts of gold. My brother fell in the restaurant while leaving, he has balance issues. The staff went above and beyond; holding him, bringing him a cool drink, talking to all of us to make sure we were all OK while we waited for the ambulance. Tommy fractured his wrist in two places. The owner also never left our side. They took our info down and were kind, caring and gracious. I called to update Maria when we left the hospital, she was genuinely concerned. James, the owner called to check on Tommy a few days later. Well done guys! You have life long customers in us. Please know that your genuine level of concern did not go unnoticed or unappreciated! We'd visited the restaurant last year while in town for a race weekend at Thompson, so we thought we'd go back.
Dined Wednesday evening around 7 pm. There were 4 other tables and people at the bar.

Food and service. The server was very nice and attentive.
Order - I ordered the chicken, garlic, artichoke pasta dish, and my husband ordered the chicken beef fajitas special. We also ordered a half pound of the shrimp app.
The appetizer was not what we expected but was good.
Our meals were quite different, however. My chicken dish was flavorless swimming g in "wine sauce." Mu husband's fajitas looked like they'd been sitting in a big pan thrown in the microwave for 2 minutes and then thrown a plate. He said both meats were flavorless and chewy. We each ate about half of our meals taking the other half back to our hotel to be disposed of.
I was surprised by this experience as it was far different than a year ago.
I'll hand it to an off night in the kitchen.
Until next year, not sure if we'd go back.

We came on a night when there was a youth performance nearby and service was still quick. The French onion soup and burger were both terrific. The kid’s chicken meal was disappointing—the meat was dry and flavorless.

Ran into an old friend at Rotary park and decided it was too loud to chat. We both said we wanted lunch and said courthouse. That must tell you have we feel about the place. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess and passed to the waitress. Food was served promptly by my niece who I didn't know was working that day. It was nice. We ate our meal and paid a reasonable price for our meal leaving a well deserved tip. The hostess and waitress said goodbye at our exit. We we were both happy with our lunch considering how warm it was outside.
