I have mixed feelings about this place now. We had found this little bbq joint in the middle of nowhere about 5 or 6 years ago while on a foliage trip. Since then, we usually return once or twice a year when in the area. At first, I thought the food in here was great, with some of the best smoked brisket I've had. But the last few years, the food has been off. It doesn't seem to have that smoked taste anymore and suspiciously, the smoker in the back is never cooking...
I enjoyed the food the first time i ordered takeout. I ordered ribs with Mac and cheese and collard greens. Today I wasn’t impressed by the food or service. As the area is suburban/ rural there are limited food options near by. As healthcare worker at nearby hospital, my meal breaks are limited so it’s importent to order in advance as it takes 15-20 mins for meals. Swung by here a couple of months ago when I was in town and have spent everyday since fantasizing about the Crab Cake Po’ Boy. Went back yesterday (after harassing the nicest person on the phone twice to make sure they had it), and it might have been EVEN BETTER.
