It was our first time here. Exceptional customer service, especially Nina! She was very friendly & always smiling. And the food, was so delicious the meat was so tender , it melted in your mouth. The Mac & cheese was very good, I wanted to ask for the recipe 😁
I highly recommend this establishment!

We ordered delivery, but when it arrived, we discovered our order was missing multiple items. We contacted the delivery service and were told they wouldn't refund us (Uber Eats, shame on you)...however, after hearing this, Bear's manager, John, went above and beyond to make sure we got our missing meal by delivering the food himself. Yes, Bear's has good BBQ, but their customer service is even better! Thank you, John!

The location in South Windsor is a order in, eat outside place. There are other locations that are dine in. Got the brisket and pulled chicken combo. Very good!!!!

Extremely disappointed with my experience at this location, came here off a whim because I was craving some bbq bc I haven’t been in a while. Immediately upon entering the restaurant I was greeted with attitudes “we don’t open until 11” looking at my watch it was 10:58 didn’t think two minutes really mattered but I said no issues I’ll wait since I wasn’t in any hurry. They said we’ll serve you this time but next time don’t enter the store until after 11.. like I was really inconveniencing them for two whole minutes. I have been going to bears since they opened in Bart’s many years ago and this experience has really turned me off not only bc of the service but the quality of the food I purchased didn’t seem to be the Bears I remember from all those years ago.

Serving store bought kielbasa in a state that has some of the most densely populated polish Americans should be a crime. As a polish American myself I find it culturally offensive.

Not everything will be a home run everyday. So maybe this was just an off day. On a weekend right at dinnertime I had the Bear Attack with pulled chicken, and sweet BBQ sauce on the side. The cornbread is more like corn cake, it is very very sweet. Unfortunately the mac and cheese was stuck to the corn cake inseparably making the mac and cheese very sweet as well. And other than the sweetness, the mac and cheese was bland (tasteless really) next to the cornbread. About half of the pulled chicken was pretty dry. So on the whole the dish was not very good.

The food is usually great. Some really good sides - especially love the collards, roasted corn (is this a new item?), and the broccoli salad. Moink balls are a delicious appetizer.
The South Windsor location is very convenient for us, but late in the day they may run out of certain items. Prices are a bit high, but for an occasional splurge I recommend it!

I've had Bear's a couple of times in Hartford and it's been pretty alright. I don't know what the main reason for a difference in quality is at this location but there is one.

The brisket I got was lacking any sort of noticeable flavor or bark and had chunks of chewy unrendered fat which were not enjoyable. The beans were okay and the cornbread was good but for the price and the portions you get, it's not worth it. Especially for the lackluster meat.
