The Mill on the River

Excellent dining experience! The meals including their presentation were all outstanding. Service was professional, personable and attentive. Attractive interior and beautiful setting.

I had the jagerschnitzel and it was ridiculously small. It was delicious , But just minuscule to my wife's meal.

As always, The Mill on the River delivered. The food and service were superb and that is what this mature couple were looking for on our first outing together. There were numerous choices on the menu and everything we ordered hit the spot. We will return.

My wife and I dined here Friday evening. We shared the antipasto for two. Everything on it was delicious. Her entree was the Rigatoni with rabe, chicken, and sausage. She loved it. I had the Prime Rib special that included baked potato and fresh vegetables. It was the best prime rib I've had in years. She had Vanilla Bean Crème Brûlée for dessert. I had Carrot Cake. Both were excellent. The service from our waitress, Monica, and staff was exceptional. Our only complaint was that even with a reservation our table was near the kitchen entrance, and another couple was seated at a table about 2 feet from ours midway through our meal. On a Friday evening the restaurant did get very busy and noisy. We will definitely be back but will ask for a bit more private table.

The shrimp on my seafood skillet tasted spoiled. My two dining partners also got the seafood skillet and their clams didn't open. Our server was great.

We were a table of 3 and our server was Julie. Excellent attentive customer service and helpful recommendations from drinks to dinner. Table next to window where we could see the waterfall. Delicious food and drink special. Relaxing evening Highly recommend the Mill on the River.

Very nice experience at mill on river. Sat outside on a 80 degree October day. Food and service excellent. Beer selection, particularly cans, was excellent. Local craft brews by back east and urban. Will be back.

Very easy to make a reservation. Hostess was very nice, seated us right away. Service was great. Our server was great. I wish I could remember his name. I'm just bad with names. The food was wonderful, cooked perfectly and was on our table quickly. They gave us a complimentary desert because it was our anniversary . We will definitely go back to try something different.

The outdoor patio was lovely! Very relaxing, service was attentive, with great menu and food was well prepared.

It was difficult to give this a four star rating when part of me really wanted to give it a 3. Made reservations for dinner. The two young hostesses at the door had all the enthusiasm and charm of a thorn in a heel. They lack refinement of people working in the hospitality and restaurant business. Absolutely sterile when it came to making us feel welcome. Showed us to a table which also lacked a scene of the river I had requested. The menus had bits of food residue on them as though no one bothers to wipe them down, and one of the water glasses foot had a chip in it. One of the gentleman working there allowed us to move to a better view which was more what we were looking for. Our waitress was incredibly pleasant to be around. The food was very well prepared and there was little to find fault with. The atmosphere is always charming, but I think that unless the front staff makes a better impression it might be awhile til we return.

Went here for my wife and I's anniversary and it was excellent. Service was top notch, food was great, and we were treated to a glass of champagne and dessert on the house to celebrate. Will absolutely be coming back.

Enjoyed a wonderful meal. One dish was salmon and the other lobster pasta. The service by Kelly was exceptional!

Dinner was good. Unfortunately the tables are so very close we felt uncomfortable. We could not even talk to our guests. Not sure if we will return😔

An absolutely stunning evening sitting on the river and enjoying a fabulous menu. This is one of the best places I have visited in CT. The menu is comprehensive and I think there are no bad choices!
