I made a reservation for five on open table thru their website. I had two confirming emails. There were 4 adults and a nine year old. The hostess claimed she had no record of our reservations and said we would have to wait. FWIW I heard the gentlemen ahead of me in line say I just called and made reservations for a party of ten. So we sat in the bar area and waited for forty minutes. I went and asked the hostess if I could get something for the child . Her reply" she can order from the child menu when you're seated" The barkeep was kind enough to bring her two pieces of bread when asked. We were never offered soft drinks or something to nosh on while we waited. She had a nasty attitude . She had a real attitude when we pointed out this was clearly not our fault. I understand that " mistakes" are made but the hostess was snarly and rotten. When we were finally seated the server was fine and the food was mediocre. I will not go back.

Our waiter, Brian, who was also the hostess and bus boy at the time, was amazing! He was helpful, took his time explaining the menu with us and one of the best waiters we've had. The calamari was hot and delicious, and my fish tacos were delicious. We would certainly go back if we are ever in the area, so hats off to the chef and Brian. Thank you for a wonderful lunch experience!

Can’t vouch for the food or service really, but we came all the way here for happy hour at 3pm and they told us that they no longer have happy hour on the weekends because “it’s the summer.” Today is March 2nd. It’s not summer. It’s not even spring yet! I feel like it’s false advertising and bait and switch, given that their outdoor billboard/menu still shows happy hour every day from 3-6pm.

We were surprised that they offered a prixe menu and we chose from that menu. It was excellent. The food was so tasty and delicious--great flavors and a generous amount. Three courses and at a reasonable price. The service was friendly and prompt. We hope to go back soon. Highly recommended.

Breakwater has an excellent location on Stonington harbor, with its own parking lot. The service is excellent, and the menu has a variety of choices for good eating. We always find something new on the menu. Well recommended.

Delicious food, modest pricing for an oceanfront seafood establishment, great service (thank you Ally Z!). Clam chowder was made from scratch, fish n chips were lightly fried and they took a custom order for my friend with a food allergy. Right on the ocean, would definitely suggest if you’re in Stonington! Thanks for a great meal!

Went to this restaurant for the first time last night and other than reading reviews didn't know what to expect. The place is right in the water with excellent views of the sunset. Wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The menu had a variety of selections with a little more emphasis on seafood as you would expect. The food quality and portions were very good. We would definitely return when it's warmer so we can sit outside.

What a terrific experience in every way! Dog Watch turned us away (a little rudely) because we had no reservations at 2 pm on a Sunday, and I'm glad they did! Right down the street was this beautiful oasis of welcoming delight! An excellent & varied menu was available and we were very happy with our choices. We enjoyed our food, unhurried, with a fabulous view!

We went on a Thursday afternoon to enjoy a great meal and see the sun set over the water. Breakwater can be noisy during busy times, but it's quiet during off hours. The portions were generous, the food was delicious, the prices reasonable, and the view was fantastic!

This was the perfect place for our group of friends looking for a great bowl of chowder and a nice atmosphere! The chowder did not disappoint, nor did the rest of what we ordered to eat. Will definitely return when in the area!!

Our first dining experience at Breakwater and it was outstanding! Our meals, the sea scallops and seafood pasta were the type of meals you don't want to end! And our server Ali, was exceptional. Breakwater does not disappoint. Highly recommend and looking forward our next visit.

For those looking for fantastic scenery this is a great spot over looking the water. It is a bit off the beaten path, which isn't necessarily a negative. There are multiple places to sit indoors and still have a great view. Weather permitting you should sit outside. The atmosphere is great. Never had a bad experience with any of the staff. They are on point and friendly. The food is a 4. Not that it isn't tasty or well prepared, it certainly is, only that it is a bit high priced for what you get. That said, I'll gladly pay a few extra bucks for a meal with a view.

Everything about this restaurant is great - service, good quality and menu choices, ambience and water views. Cozy on a cold winter day. Great outside eating area in the warmer months.
