Located inside Mystic Aquarium, Saltwater Café offers the unique experience of being emotionally waterboarded while overpaying for a sandwich. The food is standard aquarium fare — overpriced, overcooked, and spiritually damp. But the real show is behind the counter.
The staff here aren’t just miserable — they’ve reached a higher plane of detachment.
Dead eyes. Blank expressions. The aura of people who’ve seen things no human should see — like the inside of the nacho cheese machine at close. You could tell them you were on fire and they’d reply “Do you want a receipt?”
Ordering food felt like interrupting a funeral.
One employee sighed so hard I thought it might lift him off the ground.
There was no greeting. No thank you. Just the silent exchange of currency for calories, like a grim ritual everyone regrets mid-way through.
The tables were sticky. The chips were damp. The vibes were bleak.
One star, because it exists, and that’s the nicest thing I can say.

I have a friend who has celiac disease therefore she has to bring food from home, I think yall should update your policies. I’ve seen tons of people here in the aquarium who have home water bottles and outside food inside here.

I didn't eat here, but I did pass by. I am mainly writing this review just to upload pictures for those that are curious about what is on the menu as well as the prices of said items.

I was in today and while the cashiers and line workers were lovely, which is usual for this spot, a manager who works there named Beth completely ruined the experience for me altogether. She was rude to her employees and I can't fathom her employees feeling comfortable working there. She makes the whole company as whole look bad and I seriously hope she's fired soon.Apparently she always acts this way? I can't imagine working for someone like her.

About 500ft from the aquarium is a bunch of restaurants that serve food which is edible. The stuff here is for those who have to put food in their children's mouths right now.We came in the off season, so your mileage may vary.

It was the most disgusting food I’ve ever had in my life. Plus overpriced. Sour clam chowder, cold powdery cheese over fries, tasteless burger, fountain drinks are gross. Should be improved or shut down immediately

Its ok cheese fries good but burger meh
Nice place and food is good
Super expensive, but what do you expect? Lines were long and slow, lost an hour just waiting to order. Finding seating afterward was impossible .
For an aquarium small restaurant food was good and good prices. Wish they would have more indoor seating.
It could have better instructions that it was self serve. the food does not have any flavor or seasoning
