This is a review I wrote back in 2016 and things are still the same, except they are no long in Mystic, now in Pawcatuck. This place has a great sale every week and the seafood is fresh, fresh, fresh. The only item I have purchased there that was frozen was the Gulf shrimp. That's right, Gulf as in USA, not import from some nasty third world country. They given great service and again, the prices can't be beat. Only wish they were in East Lyme.

For many years, we have been going the Sea Well on Mason’s Island. The quality of product and customer service has always been great. Unfortunately, they are temporarily closed.
We needed lobsters for New Year’s Eve so we called Sea Well in Pawcatuck. What a disaster!!
We called at 3:02 to order the steamed lobsters to be picked up about 4:30. I arrived shortly before that time, gave my name to the manager, and was handed an order which I paid for. When I got home we realized that it was the wrong order – about 5 lbs of lobster instead of the 4 we had ordered. So, we paid for a pound of lobster we didn’t want nor need. She could have easily avoided this mistake by simply asking me to confirm my phone number. It would have been obvious that she was giving me the wrong order.
I called the market and AFTER A WHILE was conveniently told by the manager that we had never placed an order. This is despite the fact there was a record of our call to Sea Well on our phone at 3:02 and the number was CORRECT! She claimed she had not received an order from us. She seemed more concerned about defending herself than concerned about us as customers. She said she had worked there for 10 years and doesn’t make that kind of mistake. Yet, she didn’t process the order we had given her on the phone AND she had sold us an order intended for someone else! If those weren’t mistakes, am I supposed to assume she did it deliberately?!?
This was absolutely terrible customer service! If we need seafood items before the market in Mason’s Island re-opens we will go elsewhere. We will not be returning to the Pawcatuck market – ever - at least as long as the current manager is still working there!

I successfully had my first seafood boil yesterday and it was all thanks to seawells! The young lady who helped me out was very patient with all my questions and cluelessness and the seafood was excellent and fresh. I had never shopped for seafood before so I was overwhelmed going into it, but it ended up being painless. 10/10, I'll be back!

We love the amazing cooked shrimp and especially when you have the OLD BAY shrimp. Seafood salad is out of this world. Today, we ordered 2, 3 pound lobsters steamed and once again..staff was right on the mark.

I was so happy to find a market that continuously has larger lobsters while keeping their prices reasonable, which to me is worth the 45 min drive. Their service is great too.

We stopped to pick up live lobsters on our way through Mystic. Sea Well Seafood had a great selection at reasonable prices. The other choices of fish and shrimp looked fresh and delicious and we also picked up some shrimp. Everything was great when we ate dinner later that day.

Review Specifically For The Masons Island Location - by far the freshest seafood anywhere in the area. Great variety that changes daily and seasonally. These guys supply the local restaurants so they go through a huge volume of inventory. What makes this location special is the top notch staff. Always helpful and pleasant to deal with. If you go, and you should, don’t forget to tip. They appreciate it and earn it.
