I have tried something new on their menu everytime I've gone and to this day, not one thing has needed improvement. From appetizers to entres and desserts, it is all perfect! Clean, fresh, delicious. Great service and atmosphere also.

Had a wonderful Danish lunch here—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The staff were warm and attentive, and the chef clearly cared about every detail, even stopping by to make sure everything was perfect. A truly delightful experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

We made reservations to celebrate our anniversary dinner here and are so happy we did. As soon as we were greeted, we weretreated to 2 glasses of champagne to help us celebrate. The service was exceptional, the food was fantastic, and they made our night extra special.

Good looking place that is very poorly managed. One person came and took our coffee order and brought it, another took the food order and disappeared, that one did not understand why we’d ask if Rye bread had seeds in it. Coffee arrived, tasted horrible - sour and burnt like 80’s diner coffee.
Food never arrived (two open sandwiches and a soup - nothing that required REAL cooking) . NOBODY checked on us.
After 45 minutes we asked the waitress what was going on, and then when the order did not arrive decided to leave. The hostess (owner?) was indifferent and did not approach us or apologize. Neither did the waitress who simply disappeared. When I raised the issue she did not apologize or exhibit concern, but said she did not have people - frankly, they were not even full. They also had time to chat and be friendly & spend time with customers they seemed to know. Maybe we did not look ‘local’ or ‘cool ‘ enough for them.
We left a few dollars on the table and left.
Anyways.
This is the kind of a restaurant we’d love to support, say something good about it - but unfortunately we can’t.
So overall
No opinion on food (we were never served)
F on coffee (burnt)
F on Service
F on attitude

Very average at best. Went on a Sunday, was completely underwhelmed given all the hype. Fish n chips below par, the bloody mary was good.

📅 11.13.25 *WRITTEN REVIEW Big Al’s Reel Reviews - EP.180 Whitecrest Eatery 💎 (Velvet Mill - Stonington Borough, CT) Tonight I headed back inside the historic Velvet Mill for my next food adventure and Whitecrest Eatery did not disappoint. Founded in 2019 by husband & wife team Johan Jensen, a Danish born, British-trained chef, and Abby Hamann, a Connecticut native, Whitecrest focuses on fresh, high-quality ingredients and dishes that are handmade with care. You can seriously feel that philosophy the moment the plates hit the table/bar. I grabbed a seat at the bar, and the place was packed. The atmosphere was low-lit, warm, bustling, with high ceilings and beautiful décor that makes the Velvet Mill such a standout setting. Service was handled by a small three-person team: Liz (manager)- friendly, welcoming, and a supporter of Big Al’s Reel Reviews Amber (my bartender/server)- attentive and on point Jocy- helping run the floor Even with a full house, they kept everything moving smoothly. Service was bomb.💣 Now let's talk about the Food: 1️⃣ Steamed Wild Maine Mussels- $16 💣 BOMB The sauce- cream fraîche, herbs, Weissling, and lemon was addictive. Mussels cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and the sourdough they make in house and served with it was the perfect pairing. A strong bomb right out the gate. 2️⃣ Béarnaise Burger- $22 💣 BOMB Burger came out perfectly cooked bright pink inside, juicy, seasoned right. Alone, it’s a thumbs-up… But then the tallow fries hit. These fries are soft, hot, insanely flavorful, and some of the best fries I’ve had anywhere. The fries elevated the entire plate into a straight bomb. 3️⃣ Roasted Duck Breast- $36 💣 BOMB This dish was incredible. Duck breast cooked perfectly, tender, rich, and beautifully plated. The potatoes were absolutely amazing, and every bite delivered. I was full, but I wanted more. Another full bomb. ⭐ FINAL VERDICT: WHITECREST EATERY IS AN OFFICIAL BIG AL’S 💎 GEM SPOT 💎🔥 Every dish: bomb Service: bomb Atmosphere: bomb Experience: bomb That makes two Gem Spots inside the Velvet Mill 💎 Dock 9 and 💎 Whitecrest Eatery. If you’re in or near Stonington Borough, this place is absolutely worth checking out so get your a** down there right away, and make sure you tell ’em Big Al sent you! To the Whitecrest Eatery Team: Thank you, I had an amazingly Dope dining experience ❤️ ☝🏾❤️ - Big Al Mayo “See you on the Rebound, Peace✌🏾out”
Celebrated my daughter’s 2nd Birthday for a small lunch with family. Delicious food and great low key lunch vibes. The cod open face sandwich and burger were spectacular!

It is one of our goto places....every item on the menu is excellent. You cannot go wrong no matter what you order. You will be pleased....food is always top notch and fresh. Drinks selections are good...both alcoholic and non alcoholic options. The sourdough bread is out of this world...always have to buy a loaf to take home when we visit.
The wait team is always friendly and accommodating to any special dietary needs or requests.
We recently had our daughter's rehearsal dinner there and could not have been more pleased with the food and service.
Highly recommend for a date night family dinner or larger get together. They are one of the best.

If you enjoy classy dining experiences on the shoreline, then check them out. Liz was super helpful in getting us started, and the food was worth our drive.
I had my own Ratatouille moment biting into the Brussell sprouts. Cheers to the whole crew at Whitecrest Eatery!!

We headed to Stonington for the afternoon and stumbled upon this hidden gem. It’s literally hidden in unique upscale factory called the Velvet Mill that houses various small businesses like coffee shops, brewery, art work, antiques, etc.
Upon arriving, we were greeted with a warm smile welcoming us and brought us to our table. We were given a quick history of the place and their offerings. We shared their fish and chips, roast beef sandwich, and panko fried flounder. All incredible flavors and beautifully plated dishes. We ended the lunch with and cardamom cinnamon bun that tasted like autumn. Warm and perfect amount of sweetness.
We can’t wait to return to try their dinner menu and check out the shops. We loved our entire experience from arrival to dessert. Staff was incredible and very happy to have us and excited for us to be there. Set a date and get excited, you’re in for a great treat!

Great modern exceptionally well prepared food. This located in the kinky Velvet Mill which has loads of pop up like shops, art, bakeries, beer hall etc. Whitecrest brings big city style food with nice bar. Worth the visit and for us locals a go to.
