A delightful bakery in the Velvet Mill in Stonington, Connecticut.

We had visited the farmers market in the parking lot of the mill, then wandered around the repurposed mill.

We saw lots of people coming and going from this place and after reading their reviews, we decided we needed to check it out.

Very friendly service in this light filled space. So many treats to choose from and our server answered all our questions and helped us choose.

We loved the egg and bacon breakfast sandwich in the freshly made brioche.

We took the carrot cake slice for later and it was wonderful. Flavorful and very moist.

Seating available in this space or take it to go.

Lots of parking in the busy lot, even on a Saturday morning with the farmers market going.

We had the most beautiful chocolate and mascarpone cake delivered for my mom‘s 80th birthday. Best bakery cake we’ve had in a long time! Delivery to our venue made it so easy! Would definitely recommend.

We ordered a small vegan lemon cutting cake with vanilla buttercream for our wedding and were extremely impressed with the taste and texture. It was honestly the best vegan cake I have ever had. The frosting was not overly sweet and hard like a lot of vegan frosting tends to be. It was buttery and silky and the lemon cake was very moist and succulent. They also nailed the design we were looking for. Later in the night we walked in on a groomsman eating a piece of the cake, who also said “this is the best cake I’ve ever had, where is this from?” He was shocked to learn that it was vegan. We froze the rest of the cake for tradition but every day I am tempted to thaw it because it was so good. On top of this, the communication with Zest was very quick and they coordinated delivery of the cake to our venue which was a huge help. 10/10 recommend!

I wanted to express my sincere thanks for the perfect desserts. They were beautifully presented, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed all the incredible flavors. The desserts truly topped off our beautiful event!

My first time there. I was looking for a quick bite to eat for breakfast and coffee. I really did not want to go to a Dunkin’ Donuts, last resort for me. I was very fortunate to come across this hidden gem. She made me two fresh egg, bacon, and cheese biscuits that were perfect! The coffee was one of the best I’ve had in the states. It is a small quaint shop, beautifully decorated and quiet. I have already recommended Zest to others and will continue too. If you’re in the area and want good food and coffee go. It was a great way to get my day moving without the chaos of the other place. The prices were better than the other place and the food/coffee incomparable.

I ordered my wedding cake and various desserts from Gabriella at Zest Bakery. I cannot say enough good things about the whole experience. I had so many people RAVE to me about how delicious the various desserts were. She supplied us with more than enough desserts and everything was so fresh! Although I don’t live in the stonington area, I will definitely be back to visit this bakery. Thank you Gabby!!

I cannot recommend Zest Fresh Pastry enough!! For our wedding, they created individual gluten-free chocolate mousse cakes based on a single photo I found on Pinterest—and they turned out even more stunning (and delicious!) than I could have imagined. NO ONE could believe they were gluten-free, and guests still ask me about them months later!! I was nervous trying to find a GF cake option, but know now Zest will be my first choice for any future events!! The whole team absolutely nailed it.

Congratulations! Your search for your wedding cake/dessert vendor has come to an end.

The Zest team is incredible to work with. We were navigating some dietary restrictions (Gluten Free, Dairy Free, etc.), and Gabriella was incredibly patient answering all of our questions. Their communication was top notch. The on-the-go tasting still involved a conversation with Gabriella at their shop, and it was informative without feeling pressured or sales-pitchy. It was a fun experience that allowed me and my husband to have a fun little picnic and taste all the yummy items.

The options available for cakes and desserts is truly incredible. There's something for every taste preference.

Some highlights: The gluten free chocolate cake was incredible. The regular chocolate was also ROCKIN' with the chocolate mousse. The red velvet was moist and the cream cheese filling had a great zing to it. The chocolate sea salt caramel tarts were a major crowd pleaser (one guest said they could die happy because they had eaten it, and it was the best thing they've ever tasted). The s'mores cookies are so unique, and the mini whoopie pies are such a fun whimsical treat. The chocolate covered strawberries also received five star reviews across the board.

Beyond taste, the team brought our vision for the cake to life. They nailed the Lambeth design from our inspo pics!

Delivery was seamless on our end as well.

Our biggest regret of the wedding is only getting a few bites of cake! We will be coming back for anniversaries to come to get some treats.

Very disappointed with the service and quality of this place. It used to be good. I am unsure why things went downhill. Maybe it was just an unlucky visit.

Zesty is a bit pricey, what isn't these days, but absolutely worth. I especially like when they go creative with scones😊
