We arrived early for our reservation but we were seated right away and we ordered drinks and entrees. Everything went downhill after that. 35 minutes later our entrees arrived, still no drinks. Finally the drinks arrived. Eventually another server stopped to check on us and we ordered more drinks and water. Water never came, my drink was served to the table next to me by mistake and they didn't bring me another one. The food was mostly overcooked and oversalted. No salads or bread with dinner despite having bread plates on the table. We would definitely not return to this restaurant. Miserable experience.

Food was not the best for how much i payed service was horrible seen the female looking at her phone more then her tables. To think their under new management and it stayed the exact same only person working in there is a young kid props to him hope he can put up with you older folk

Update 2025 It was. It isn't any more under new management The Only Thing Thats Nice About The Place Recently Is How Clean Every Dish is. But The Food Used To Be Better Ill Rate It a 6.5/10 now

Black Rock Tavern is fantastic! The new owners are doing an awesome job creating a great atmosphere and really making the place shine. The food is absolutely top tier — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. On top of that, the beer is always ice cold, just the way it should be.

If you’re looking for a spot with excellent food, friendly service, and a welcoming vibe, this is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!

This was our first visit since new owners took over. The service was great, food and drinks were delicious. The dining room could use some warming touches.

We haven't been to this restaurant in a few years. We heard it was under new management so we decided to go back. Reasons we stopped going was because the last few times we were ignored by staff. We had to keep going to the bar to get anything. We loved their French onion soup but the last few times it just wasn't good. Today was a nice pre fall day, so we thought it was a great time to check out Black Rock Tavern again now that there's new management. Not only was our waitress very attentive but there was another waitress that was very helpful! However, neither of them seemed to be over bearing or interrupted us. Then there was the soup and I am pleased to say it was just as good as it once was! Delicious! My in laws got the horseradish salmon and the steak filet and they loved it!! Both cleaned their plates! We fully enjoyed our food and experience and will most definitely be returning again soon! It's nice to see this restaurant becoming the great restaurant it once was! Written on 8/28/2025

This is a great family, friends, or combined location in the center if Thomaston for a delicious meal, snack, or drink... They make an amazing lemonade... I definitely recommend their French onion soup and penne a la vodka dish; I add shrimp, it's totally worth it... I'll take pics next time 🤦‍♀️

Amazing experience. Stopped in there with our newborn and toddler on a whim and everything was way beyond our expectations. Waitress was perfect… couldn’t ask for better. The French Dip and Buffalo chicken Mac & cheese are both as good as they come and then some. Highly recommended!!!

This place is incredible. I had the best bloody mary of my life. The bar tender and the owner are both extremely attentive and a joy to be around. The chef is incredible good at what he does. I got the french dip and it was incredible. Highly recommend this place. This will be my new go-to.
