Ichiro Sushi & Hibachi Restaurant (Trumbull)

Got horrible food poisoning along with my friend. Threw up just about everything in my stomach and more. Will not be returning and suggest no one else goes here and has to experience the same thing.

I’ll start by saying the food was enjoyable. I would still order from here for takeout. They deserve that credit.

For the service, there’s definitely room for improvement. We had to ask repeatedly for utensils (spoons for soup), an extra cup for the sake my wife and I were splitting, and another bowl for soy sauce (there wasn’t one for each person), none of which came. Our friends had to ask repeatedly for their drinks. The dining side had three other patrons at the time, but perhaps they were spread thin by the hibachi side. Either way, their staff could be more attentive .

We were there for the unlimited sushi. Like I said the portions were great and food delicious (be warned, though, the Lemongrass Hot and Sour has seafood in it, which I wish it stayed on the menu). However, we put in one order and there was no follow up to see if you wanted more. Like I said, the portions were decent so it wasn’t really an issue. But it appears you should order everything you’ll want up front rather than order as you eat like most all you can eat sushi. Not so much a neg as a point you should know to set expectations.

Lastly, the atmosphere. This critism is, unfortunately, more of a reflection on the parents in this town. The people sitting behind us had their kid playing on an iPad at full blast. Later, they let their kid poke and pat us on our backs while we ate and let their child roam to the other tables where people were eating.

The people from the hibachi side let their children run free. Two children came to our side of the dining and started playing with the table settings of the open tables while their dad watched drinking his beer. Another child was banging on a decorative drum, pounding away, while parents just watched. Classic case of people making their kids other peoples issue. We share a space and all have the right to enjoy a night out.

The lack of discipline with this children, the parents watching it happen and saying nothing and the staff not saying anything either left us not wanting to return.

With that said, I would say this is a take-out only establishment.

There were a few people on the hibachi side, however we were the only ones in the restaurant and it took 1/2 hour for our food. My sushi was 6 of the smallest pieces I’ve ever seen served on a wooden cutting board with numerous knife slices-very unsanitary. Would never pass an inspection.

I only get take out from here but it is always excellent . I do not do sushi take out but a lot of other items on the menu. If they can just update the inside it would probably increase their amount of customers choosing to dine in.

Got takeout experience! The restaurant is very cute and clean. I explained my 4 year old wanted to try sushi, the lady in the front was very sweet and informed me that they had a special. I waited less than 15 mins and the lady was on her way out to me. When I got home I was so pleased to see they made my son chopsticks with a little rubber band and paper so that he could use them! That was not only so thoughtful, and sweet but my son was extremely happy and just an overall great experience! Thanks again guys! We’ll be back soon!

Service was amazing. We did table service and the food came out quick, hot, and delicious! Sushi had a big selection and was fresh! We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

on a slow Friday night it took an hour to get our first drink and food. possibly a new server, but still not an excuse. we had to ask several times for additional plates and chop sticks, napkins. this is our second time returning here and the first time was significantly better.

Overall a typical hibachi restaurant but the food was a little bland and it seemed somewhat run down. This might be unfair as this restaurant has been around for decades so when comparing it to all the newer places it seems rundown but it did.
