I live close by and decided I would try it. I normally go to Scotty's or Center Street for breakfast. I ordered the same breakfast I order anywhere, 3 eggs Sunnyside, home fries and wheat toast. The portions were extremely small as far as home fries, the toast was soggy and overall not very tasty. What really set me aback was the cost. It was $14.69 which first of all was about $4 higher for a lot less food. I understand higher prices BUT eggs are now back to normal prices and I'm sorry the food was just not very good and it takes some effort or lack of caring to have a basic breakfast taste so blah especially when combined with much higher prices and MUCH LESS home fries, they added nothing added to home fries either. I wish them the very best, I hope that they can turn their business into a profitable one but since I was the ONLY customer there at 11:15 am, on a Wednesday morning, I'd say that they have some work ahead of them. This is an honest review. I had truly hoped that they were better or at minimum equal to the other two places I mentioned because they are much closer to home. Unfortunately and with regret, they weren't even close, from either a taste, portions or financial perspective, just a sad, but true fact!

It's like walking into your grandmother's or your Aunt Connie's kitchen. 😄
Everyone greets you with a smile and makes you feel warm, welcomed and comfortable, better than your own family because they are genuinely glad to see you!
Their grits, pancakes and French Toast are the best in the area.
Next time I will try their lunch menu.
If this restaurant was in a higher traffic area, there'd be a line out the door all day.

Excellent food… great service… friendly atmosphere…homey… the colors, decorations, beautiful ceiling …just lift my spirits.. and I love being there! Also, Bathroom is large enough for handicapped chairs and always very clean and comfortable. Kudos to the lady that spends a lot of her time decorating for all the holidays and seasons for our enjoyment!

This is one of our families favorite places. We go here often. They always have different specials. Everything is always fresh and delicious. They always have different breakfast options and lunch options at any time which is also great. The service is always Amazing and everyone is so friendly. Anytime you walk in you feel like you’re really being welcomed. The restaurant is very clean. I only have good things to say about this place.

This is a simple hole in the wall kind of place. Nothing fancy, but everything seemed clean. The seats were comfortable. It wasn’t chic or cool or anything, but for what it was, the atmosphere was perfect. No frills decor but that’s fine.

Being our first time at this place, my husband asked the waitress what was good at the restaurant. She suggested the homemade corned beef hash so we both ended up getting it. It was so good!! Omg!!! I also opted for grits instead of home fries because you don’t often see grits on menus in ct. They must have been made with milk (or maybe cream). I’ve only made them with water. They were unlike any grits I’ve ever had - so rich. It was delicious but it was a lot. (I’ll order more wisely next time.)

Speaking of ordering, I knocked off a star on service because the menu listed a side of home fries as $4 and a cup of grits as $4 so I asked if I could substitute the home fries that came with my meal for the grits. The server said of course, but then I was surprised to see that I was charged $3 extra for the grits. She should have mentioned that it wasn’t an even substitution when I ordered, especially since the sides were priced the same so it seemed like it should be an even swap.

Everything else (toast and eggs), while not complicated, was prepared perfectly. They had rye bread, which I asked for, and it was toasted and buttered perfectly. The eggs over easy were prepared just right. It’s easy to take these things for granted, but so many places screw it up - your toast will only get a blob of butter in one spot, your eggs will be overdone, etc. But not here.

They also had a couple specials that sounded very tempting too - an omelette with homemade meatloaf (I’ve never heard of such a thing, but it sounds amazing!) and French toast made with banana bread.

It’s been several hours since we ate there and I still I can’t stop thinking about that corned beef hash. Even though we usually go to New Haven for brunch, I need to figure out how to work a breakfast in Wallingford into my rotation now and then. It’s a good thing I don’t live in Wallingford. I’d probably be eating there every day!

The waitress's service is very rude, after correcting the order that was mistaken by her, she simply started acting rude to the point of throwing some of the food on the consumer, it's too small a place to see that she also started making comments with the other waitress and casting grocerous glances.
