Yes, it's in a somewhat interesting location in a strip mall off the main road. I've been trying to find a place like this for quite some time. I've only gotten takeout so that's what my review is focusing on. It's difficult finding quality sushi at reasonable prices, and Tanpopo really delivers where it matters. The fish is fresh and has excellent texture. I ordered several massive platters of nigiri sushi of all kinds, and my family was really delighted with the taste. If I have any criticism, it is that their cut rolls are somewhat-poorly assembled, and tend to fall apart after a few seconds of being held with chopsticks. Their lunch and dinner specials are very reasonably priced, as are their "party platters" of nigiri sushi. The sashimi is of equivalent quality, although I do prefer to cook my own rice at home to eat with it (we recommend Tamaki Gold). Placing an order on the phone was simple, and we paid when we went to pick up the food which was ready to go at the requested time. Great service and pleasant staff!

I got take out. TWO mango avacado rolls. And two spicy mayos. Came to 13.77!!!!! I got two INDIVIDUAL rolls (3-4" each) and two tiny spicy mayos. Will attach pic if I can. This even in today's prices, should be $6 tops for all!

I'm not one to typically leave reviews, but I couldn't resist sharing my experience here because it was truly exceptional. The sushi was out of this world, and the attention to detail in every bite left my taste buds in awe. I can't stop thinking about the deliciousness that graced my palate! However, what really stood out was the warm and genuine hospitality of the owner. Their dedication to making our dining experience memorable was truly heartwarming. I can't wait to return and savor more of their delectable sushi, all while basking in the owner's wonderful hospitality. It's an experience I won't soon forget.
This is our go-to Sushi place in Wallingford and surrounding area. The sushi is far superior to the two nearby hibachi/sushi places and the couple who run it are so incredibly friendly and nice. We love it and highly recommend it.

For sure my favorite hibachi meal in Connecticut, the best I’ve found since I moved here. Sushi is good, everything tastes fresh. Service is always good too, the right balance of checking on you and leaving you alone to enjoy the food.

Last time I ordered from here it was pretty good, I had no complaints... That was last year. I ordered through DoorDash the other night and was actually disappointed. The sushi itself (the rice) wasn't tight, or seasoned well and kept falling apart. It was also too large for the portions of fish. Anyone who eats this cuisine often.. knows the rice makes it breaks it. Not sure if I'll try again.

Came here this past weekend for the first time. The food was delicious and the service was quick and friendly. We had the age tofu & shrimp shumai appetizers. For entrees we had the "amazing" roll, tuna roll, salmon roll, and yellowtail roll. All were fresh and tasty. Dessert was vanilla fried ice cream. We will definitely be coming back!
