Gorgeous, cozy restaurant with a delicious menu. The staff are excellent and very attentive when needed but don't rush you. The massive fireplace is everything!

I find it challenging to comprehend the positive reviews. While the atmosphere and location are great, the positives end there. Our experience was marred by subpar service—although the server was friendly, they lacked attentiveness, and the timing of our meal was poor. The bigger issue was the food, which was barely edible. I had a "General Salad" and Salmon entree. I had wanted a classic caesar but this was the closest thing, or so I thought. The presence of bright orange, stale, soggy bread pieces around the salad was perplexing, to say the least. The honey mustard dressing was overpowering and a bad companion with anchovies. The main course, salmon with wild rice, was mediocre at best. The rice was evidently undercooked, indicative of substandard culinary skills.My dining partner was equally disappointed in their salad & entree.

Beautiful restaurant with great food! I would recommend the pear salad with shrimp, it was phenomenal. Also, the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly. I can't wait to go back!

Enjoyed our time at GW Tavern. Lovely warm and cozy atmosphere. Outside view is terrific. Food and service was great. Met the owners who were very friendly and accommodating. Would go again and recommend as a nice time out.

Why was the pear salad warm and the greens not fresh as if it was prepared day's ago? And the salt bomb of the root vegetable soup.. disgusting! The wine pours were meager.. just not an enjoyable experience.. I will not be back or recommend. Place isn't very clean either it's like being in a dirty smelly musty old moldy basement.

Do yourself a favor and visit this restaurant - it’s so beautiful and cozy. The staff truly cares about your experience and the service is unmatched. Great menu and the food is so delicious. Absolutely the best restaurant in the Washington, CT area. We highly recommend and are so excited to visit when they host live music at night.

Everything about this restaurant was wonderful! The place is beautiful with a great atmosphere. Everyone’s meals were absolutely delicious and well portioned and the drinks were superb. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive to our needs. We will definitely be back!
