I must say that was the absolute worst fish and chips I have ever had in my life. Especially coming directly from a fish market. I wouldn't eat there for free moving forward.

excellent fish market, lame fish restaurant.
fish market is great, with an excellent selection of fillets, live lobster, several kinds of oyster and clams. the restaurant however leaves a lot to be desired: they did not fry the belly oysters nearly long enough and the batter had a little to no flavor, which doesn't surprise me seeing that this is New England and people don't understand what flavor is. they could have at least fried it properly. there's really no other place to go like this in the area so I'll just fry them at home next time

Always get the scallop lunch. Awesome. Except for the last time…over cooked and portions were smaller than EVER before. Don’t know if I should try it again Did it change.? I go there because it was great not because it’s cheap. Been a couple of years I ate there. But they have the best seafood you’re gonna find anywhere.

Bought snow crab legs .They were not fresh when frozen. Three of the bigger legs had no meat.

Local restaurants all around the around use City Fish Market aswell:) Highest quality and freshness with extremely fair pricing in today's economy and inflation:) highly appreciate and recommend this amazing Fish Market:)

No sauce!
The price for 10 piece shrimp and chips is $17.17
The problem is they only give you 2 sauce, you have to pay more money if you want more sauce and nothing is in the container?

I have been going to City Fish since the 90's. It has really went down hill. The cooked food was horrible. It did not taste fresh, everything was over cooked, it was tasteless. It was a waste of my money way over priced and just to havea few pieces of seafood and a box full of fries. With what I spent I could have bought food to cook myslef and had left overs. I will never go back.

Years ago my husband myself and our 7 yr old used to go to city fish everyweek. The dinners were out if this world. One day thou our son had a box with a grayish slimy thing in it it.I was appalled. I went back in showed the daughter, told her it almost look like poop from fish if I didn't know better. My late dad and me fished all the time. I said mabey that's not it but I don't like it.She got attitude almost thou looked to cry.She went and got her father the owner, he didn't apologize but got upset his daughter was upset.Ge didn't address the dinner just just his daughter. Saud leave and don't come back. I did leave. We were in our 20's if I knew better would have sued them. Now your Karma has come around your food has gone down hill your staff as well. Now you leave the retail soon.

City Fish was my go-to fish monger in Hartford county but I think they’ve transitioned to a commercial fish vendor for restaurants with a small retail business that they don’t value much anymore. The last 3x I’ve been, there’s been an UNUSUALLY STRONG fish smell. Yesterday, I bought a swordfish $24/lb, and 3 jumbo shrimp $30/lb By the time I get home, it smelled so bad that my girlfriend who was in another room asked why does that shrimp smell so strong?
I asked for ice but was told ‘we can’t because of cross contamination’. Weird since NOBODY wears gloves and is handling all different kinds of fish. And all the fish is cut/filleted on the SAME CUTTING BOARD. When I questioned the girl behind the counter her answer changed to ‘it’s company policy that we don’t give ice’ City Fish is the ONLY fish monger I’ve ever been that doesn’t give ice. Didn’t help that it was 85 degrees with 80% humidity. You’d think they’d offer ice as a courtesy to their customers on a day with the extreme heat/humidity. Ended up having to throw away $30/lb shrimp. Last time I buy fish there. Whole Foods isn’t better but the fish doesn’t smell like it’s gone and they give you ice with no problem.

The lobster roll I got here was very good and tasted fresh. Not a huge fan of the roll itself but as long as the lobster meat is good, then it's a solid roll.

I've been going to City Fish for many years and have bragged about the great tasting fillets used in their fish and chips...big fan!!!

I went today and spent over $25 for 5-pieces of fish and fries. Well, the fries are not the same fries they have been serving for years. They are the regular fries you can buy at any grocery store.

They were a bit over-cooked, but I ate them nonetheless. With the exception of 2 of the pieces, the fillets averaged at least 1/2 inch in thickness and about 5 inches long.

Two of the pieces were the usual thickness, over an inch thick, but they too, were not very long. Overall, I was extremely disappointed! It is not the portions that I remember.

I went up to the eat-in area and began my meal with great disappointment. So, I wasn't in a very good mood. Nonetheless, I ate because I was hungry and the two larger pieces of fish were very good, but still small, not the usual size.

Then, one of the employees decided to take a break in the eating area and began a conversation that me and another couple could easily hear; I didn't want to hear about their personal business while I was eating.

In closing, I will not be going to City Fish again! Major disappointment for me because I have such a big fan of City Fish!

However, please do not let my opinion deter you from feasting on their seafood. They have been and continue to be a reputable provider of fresh fish and take out.

Across the board, food prices have gone up, portions have decreased in size, and some taste altering ingredients have been changed in order to make ends meet, and for some, just to make more money!

City Fish has and continues its commitment to quality food, even though, as I see it, they have cut some corners on portions and the price is definitely up there.

If I had the resources, I would eat at City Fish at the very least once a week, despite my observations. I just can't afford it!!

Never bought any fresh fish there, but I know it has to be good. Too bad, now I will never know. I will miss City Fish!

The portion sizes has decreased, the fries were soggy and terrible, absolutely tasteless. The woman who does the cooking is always unpleasant with a nasty attitude.

Tried fish and chips and chowder to go. The fries were dripping in grease and the chowder was scalded and brown in color. It was not edible. Haven't gotten food there in a couple years but it definitely wasn't worth $23. I will not be going back there again.
