Not only is the food here AMAZING, but the staff is so kind, welcoming, and knowledgable. They have something for everyone here with many delicious meats, sandwiches, tacos, and amazing sides. Also, I would like to give a huge thank you to the staff, especially Jennifer, who was so welcoming and friendly! I am already planning to come back as soon as possible. 10/10 highly reccomend.

BLESS THE GENERAL

Took my mother here to check out a different BBQ place and was highly disappointed. First off, it's hard to find parking as there's only on street spots. The place is set up ok, but there are only 3 tables and a few bar stools around the perimeter for dining in. They have a limited menu as well. We got the pork belly burnt ends, brisket, ribs, baked beans, and corn bread. THE ONLY DECENT THING WAS THE RIBS! The brisket was chewy, dry, and overcooked with no flavor. Burnt ends were ok at best, but the KC BBQ sauce was actually pretty good and carried the meal. The beans were terrible, and the cornbread was dry and tasteless.

If you want some good BBQ, this place ain't it. Hard pass... there are so many better options out there.

We liked the pork belly and the ribs were 85% (could have been cooked a little longer) but the brisket was bland and the sides were dry and tasteless. We drove far and felt out of place in the weird Halloween environment and it was not worth the wait and drive FYI don't expect to find parking!

We ordered the brisket, pulled chicken, and smoked sausage. Also ordered the mac and cheese and cornbread.

The brisket was tender but extremely fatty. No noticeable smoke ring to the brisket. The bark flavor had hint of a campfire. Not the worst but would not recommend it. 4/10

The pulled chicken was on the drier side. The KC barbecue sauce pulled a lot of the weight on this dish. 5/10

The smoked sausage was… ok. The overall taste was more of a grease taste than sausage. Would definitely like to see a cheddar jalapeño sausage. 5/10

Cornbread was very dry. Almost inedible without the butter. Definitely would not recommend. 1/10

Mac and cheese lacked flavor. Very prominent onion flavor in the batch of Mac and cheese we had. 4.5/10

Very clean on the inside of the restaurant and the woman working the front was very nice and helpful.

Back again today for my weekly chili dog
Last week I skipped only because there was a porch fest going on in old wethersfield and parking is already an issue. I have never liked hotdogs much as an adult but after seeing they’re ads on Facebook , I had to try it.
Today it was delicious as usual. I wanted to come have one on Tuesday but they weren’t open so Friday it was. Joe V will be back next week! And nothing like a chili dog with an ice cream man beer!!!❤️

This was my first visit for Take out.
It was easy to Order, Message for special requests and Pick up was quick.

The sides were delicious. The Smoked Ribs, Chicken, Brisket, Sausage, Smoked Hotdog with Brisket Chili and Tacos had an amazing slaw and big flavor.

Their BBQ Sauce selection was long and they offered a great variety of them.

I will definitely revisit many times.

I highly recommend Smoked on Main St. Wethersfield, CT.

I've been here twice already. It has great food. The best part is that it is gluten free for most if not all items. They have some of the best tacos I could ask for. Highly recommend going. They have vegetarian options as well.

Dietary restrictions: Mostly gluten free. Their fried fish tacos use a gluten free base and they use corn soft shells.

Short Version! Best smoked BBQ. Cannot recommend enough. Chef and staff are excellent. Wethersfield has a gem — the ‘secret’ needs to get out! Long Version! Earlier this week, to celebrate our anniversary, my wife and I went to a smoked barbecue restaurant, Smoked on Main, in Wethersfield. It was her surprise to me. I did not know where we were headed. Both of us love BBQ, my wife grew up in the Kansas — St Louis area; I had spent quite a bit of time in Dallas, our daughter lives in Carolina. There you have it: Kansas City, Texas, and Carolina BBQ! After we arrived and parked, we decided to walk a bit as its location is in an incredibly beautiful quintessential New England restored area (we live in New Haven). There are numerous beautiful old homes (dating from the 17th century), a colonial cemetery started in 1634, the same year as Wethersfield was founded. When I read over the menu, by its choices, its depth and descriptions, including several additional smaller a la carte menus (including the one for five different varieties of smoked tacos) I knew this was some place special. But I reserved my opinion until the food arrived. My wife had the smoked St Louis ribs; I had smoked spicy pork and smoked steak tacos along with the corn salad. Some, if not all, was the best I’ve ever eaten. After I saw the food presentations, tried them, coupled with the sophistication of the menu, I believed the chef had to have been professionally trained. His name is Bronislaw (Bernie) Gorski, and came out to say hello. He is a classically trained chef, started at Ernie’s in San Francisco having been a chef in NYC, Paris, and Brazil, to name just a few. We talked shop for some time. Delightful and incredibly knowledgeable. I say shop because while not in his league, when I was much younger, I was trained as a chef and sommelier in a French restaurant, and worked in the industry for quite some time, including as a consultant. That background expertise is what led me to expect and recognize the quality and presentation of the menu. I cannot recommend Smoked on Main enough. It has not been open long and also does catering. I want to give a ‘shout out’ to Wethersfield. If you are not yet aware of the rich culinary gem you have in your wonderful city — please give them a try! They do a brisk take-out business as well. Thanks to Bernie and to Jennifer who serves as a mainstay there in the evenings (and met us outside as we we were coming in — so hospitable). All the best. We had a delightful time.

We enjoyed the brisket empanadas and the half rack of St Louis style ribs. The family pack came with two very generous sides. I recommend the street corn which comes from the local Anderson Farms. They have picnic tables outside as well as inside seating.
