We went for my husbands birthday, figured it would be a nice restaurant and although the ambience was nice the service and food was just ok. We started with the octopus, scotch egg and homemade ricotta. Scotch egg was the absolute winner. The octopus was good but the fried rice that was served with it stole the show and the ricotta was just ok, nothing to rave about unfortunately. As for our mains we ordered the special brisket, lamb chops, chicken and dumplings and summer orecchiette...
it is fortunate and unfortunate that The Charles isn't closer to where we live. Unfortunately, due to the food/service/ambiance is spectacular EVERY time we visit. Fortunately, for us, we would be there probably once per week.
Anniversary dinner was exceptional! The octopus appetizer was cooked to perfection. I love paella but due to allergies never order it. However our server, Nelly, made sure the kitchen prepared the dish especially for me, it was beyond delicious! Dessert was the bread pudding crème brûlée, a perfect ending to a perfect meal. I have a new favorite restaurant!
