Utsav Indian Cuisine - Wethersfield

Tonight was our first visit and we tried the garlic naan, vegetable samosas and the spinach dumplings. Everything was delicious! Very happy with this plan and will definitely be back.

Ate there for lunch Saturday. Amazingly delicious. We’ve been getting takeout from here for years but it’s been awhile since we’ve dined in. While the takeout is very good, eating in house was a whole different level of deliciousness. Highly recommend.

Utsav's Vernon location is wonderful - so why is its Wethersfield restaurant so steadily disappointing? My guess is poor, unmotivated management. The Wethersfield location goes out of its way to alienate customers & has done this for several years. This was my third try at dining in - both other times the greeter/host was gruff and high-handed, and I walked out. But because the Vernon restaurant is so regularly excellent, I've ordered takeout here a few times. The food is nearly as good as Vernon's five-star cuisine (unfortunately, it's equally pricy). Chicken madras is a particular strength. Recalling a couple of the good takeout meals and hoping that staff retraining or turnover would make dining in an option, I went on a Friday lunch hour. Service was worse than ever. I literally stood at the end of the bar for four solid minutes - nobody came out to seat me. There was one random guy seated at the bar with an open wine bottle in front of him 😬 Is that even legal? I gave up and walked halfway in the dining room - an impatient waiter glared when I asked if I could get a table. "Over there" he said curtly, gesturing toward a section of three tables - two of them occupied. There were only four tables in use out of perhaps 15-20, so this area was noisy & unappealing. I walked to a quieter area and took an open table - the waiter then declares that section isn't available. About 70 percent of his restaurant is empty in the heart of the lunch period, and he's going to close sections?! The Manager and waiter should've been ecstatic that they had a customer - instead, Utsav's culture of arrogance sent me away again. It would be wonderful if the Vernon location sent a manager here to get the Wethersfield operation in order. Wethersfield and nearby Rocky Hill have numerous Indian restaurants and a big market for them - Utsav could be a star, but the rude and high-handed attitude has got to go.

My wife and I visited this location for lunch after I had run the Hartford half marathon. So, I was hungry. When we walked in, there were no other customers. I considered leaving but I was hungry. So glad we stayed. After another 15 minutes, several other customers showed up. They have a broad and very reasonably priced lunch menu. It includes soup or salad, an entree, bread and dessert. It too awhile to get our food but it was delicious and plentiful. Our waiter was good. I think his name was Ram. We took some food back to the hotel which I ate that evening. A delicious experience. I would definitely go back for more if we lived in CT.

Went to this restaurant on a Tuesday. Chicken smelled really bad and had to give it back. They didn't charge. The gravy was tasty though. Got a lassi and it is really sour. I believe both chicken and yogurt were stale.

Long time customer. All prior experiences 5 stars. Today unfortunately 3 stars. I asked for mild spice, got no spice. Food was therefore bland. Disappointed. Ordered take out, not worth the drive back. Next time ill try medium spice and hope its not too much. Ill return again due to prior excellent taste.
