Always excellent food, in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. It's not pretentious and doesn't try to be anything it isn't. Big menu with lots of choices, and you really can't go wrong with any of it. Love the burgers, and the chicken basket is also a winner. Great breakfast too. This time we got the bread pudding, which is made in-house and was some of the best I've had. Prices are reasonable, though keep in mind sides are extra. Service is great, and the people are very friendly.

My grandparents started going to the “chef” in the 50s and my family have been loyal customers ever since!In the past couple years there have been huge improvements, the food is consistently much better, they’ve have made some good menu upgrades and now have exciting specials!Best part has to be the strong cocktails!

Always like charcoal chef!! Food is simple and consistently good.Service was off on the night we visited as compared to usual. We waited 20 mins to be acknowledged, 15 mins for drinks to arrive (soda, ice tea, and chocolate milk), and food took a lot longer than normal to come out as well. I think just new waitresses, and they hadn't found their flow yet.

First time ever eating here will definitely give it another shot but they missed the mark this time ordered the fried chicken basket it was pre fried and they just refried it reason I know this was the chicken leg and the breast was ice cold in the center my wife ordered the hot roast beef flavor was there but it was dry, the cheese cubes on the appetizer menu were very good and our waitress although she took forever in a day to wait on use was one of the kindest people ever

I haven't been here in years, mostly because they used to have a cash only policy and I haven't carried cash in years. Food was every bit as good as I remember as was the service. The restaurant has not aged one bit, it's like walking into the actual 1960s and not in a reproduction way. Now that I know they take cards I will be stopping in more often.

I went in for a quick bite. I saw on the menu it said somthing along the lines of "old reliable's" or what ever. I ordered a chili dog off the menu and I wish I took a picture of what I was served. The old lady in normal lazy day clothing handed me a plate full of Chilli, (looked like Chilli from a can) under that Chilli was a terrible hotdog. I am not kidding you couldn't find this hot dog. The bun was like they used it as a sponge to clean the kitchen, the Chilli was horrible. I saw Flys everywhere, the staff definitely are well past when they should have called it quits and retired. I'd happily never go back

Great lunch with mom, but when I talked to the owner, she snapped at me like a turtle! The waitress never brought our check, so I went to pay at the counter, and was so verbally abused she drove a Veteran right away who came over and spoke with me afterwards very nicely. Why would you be so cruel to someone who was with their blind, disabled mom?
