Grotto Pizza

We have always loved our traditional Grotto pizza stop on the way to the beach, unfortunately this time we left feeling very frustrated and disappointed. We specifically called ahead this time because we have multiple little ones sitting in traffic and knew that a long wait after a long car ride would be tough. We asked the gentleman we talked to on the phone if we could order over the phone and eat in the restaurant. He said that it can’t always happen, but that they weren’t too crowded and could accommodate us. We arrived holding multiple children and the hostess continued to refuse to seat us even after explaining that we had called ahead. We then ended up just grabbing a table because there were many empty tables. None of the waitresses came by to assist us and we were hoping to order drinks. We would’ve tipped for the full bill (we even told them so) if they would’ve stopped by. On top of it, we got many rude and angry looks from the hostess and her friends. We are so disappointed and will now go to a local pizza shop in the future.

The pizza was not my favorite. I had some of the spaghetti and meatballs, which was better. Overall, mid experience. The meatballs have cheese in them by the way!

We really love Grotto’s pizzas! They’re fast, efficient, and HUGE. It’s a decent price for a good pizza. I highly recommend their white pizzas, especially the mushroom. It can’t be beat!

Called for a delivery order ($80 order) gave them our address and they took the order. 45 minutes later, they called and said the driver decided we were “too far”…. kept telling me we were in a different community than our actual community. We order delivery from this south Bethany frequently with no issue. Put me on with 2 different managers who were both very rude and said 3 different ( made up) the reasons were 1- too far, 2- the driver decides if he wants to deliver it, 3- they only deliver in the winter?? Then she canceled our order telling us we had to pick it up… if we could have picked it up, we wouldn’t have ordered delivery. When I asked what was going to happen to the $80 worth of already cooked food that was sitting, ready to go, she said “ the employees would eat it. Glad the employees all got a free $80 dinner on grottos dime. Pretty sure the driver just assumed we were tourists who weren’t going to tip- I always pay with our card, and leave at least a 25% cash tip- which I told the order taker. What is obnoxious is them waiting almost an hour to tell us we aren’t getting our food, yet charged our card then made it seem like she was doing us a favor by refunding us… refunding us was the minimal thing to do and the customer service is at zero. Bye, Grotto we took our business to Fox’s pizza on 26- excellent food and fast service!

This is a typical Grotto pizza location. I always think the best locations are the ones on the boardwalk, but that could just be an emotionally influenced choice. The food was okay. The service was good, but the restaurant was a little bit dirty, especially since I saw food on the floor.

Earlier i had given them a 1 star! Update! Ordered a Stromboli and large beach fry for pick up when my husband got back home with our order it was not what we ordered! It looked like a spinach and cheese cowzone . Highly upset!

Update.... 5 stars! They went way and beyond to satisfy us! They remade our order and delivered it to us! Excellent customer service thank you very much!

Not the greatest pizza around but Grotto’s are more than pizza.
It’s about family and making memories on hungry impulses.
The staff aren’t super talkative during the day hours so you get to spend more time chopping it up with your uncles and cousins over some decent pizza 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🍕
Definitely a fun sit-down spot… but would NOT recommend just grabbing take-out from here!

OC MD Boardwalk, Waitress messed up just about every order, forgot 1 Pizza and explained the customer was diabetic and needed to eat but very little to no concern. Did not refill drinks or even check on the table. Did not offer to discount the bill. Wouldn't have left a tip but it required 18%. Grrr 9/12 8

If you want your pizza delivered cold and an hour late by all means order it

Another day, another grottos review. Grottos consistently never fails. Great pass by location, no liquor but they have a beer menu. Cheese bread was cooked to perfection as well as the pizza. Food came out fast and server Sophia was attentive and kind! Definitely recommend stopping at this one.

We always look forward to our yearly beach trip and our meals at Grottos Pizza. We were not disappointed once again.
