The Jackson House is amazing! They have a New Orleans themed brunch menu, the ambiance was a southern feel like sitting on the deck drinking iced tea vibe. (Indoor and outdoor seating)
They have items from po-boys, to shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, huge bison ribeyes, even more exotic dishes like a New Orlean's classic turtle soup and fried frog legs (which is what I ordered). Simply delicious. They also have duck fat fries, which is awesome idea! They have the best French toast that I've ever had!
The drinks were well crafted and affordable, it's one of the only places around to get a fantastic expresso martini. The Old Fashion was exactly how it should be, simple ,elegant ,and not watered down.
Hannah, our server was delightfully, and helped us expertly navigate the menu. So many great dishes.
Sadly,Sunday was the last day of the Jackson House in Dover.
But no worries! They're just relocating to Middletown, and I can not wait to eat there again!

I went to this joint right before they were about to close, but the staff were still super chill about it. I ordered a burger and fries. The burger was bomb, they have this homemade sauce that's like, insanely good. The fries were pretty darn good too.
The staff here really know their stuff about the building, and you can tell they really care about their jobs. It's not like some other places where the staff don't seem to give a damn.
I also got a couple drinks that were made perfectly.

Not my first time here, but I realized that I haven't reviewed it yet. I first went with my husband for date night. The food was unforgettable. Delicious. Today I stopped in for lunch with my mom. We mentioned splitting the burger and they split it for us! Super considerate and delicious. I also had the candied bacon. To die foe. Had a great amount fo smoke to it, and a good sweet and salty flavor.

A Delightful Setting, but the Food Needs a Little Tune-Up!
I recently visited 1857 Jackson House and was immediately charmed by the ambiance—perfect for a casual night out. We started off with the corn bread appetizer, which was delicious! We got two adorable muffin-top-shaped pieces that were quite tasty, but for $12, I was hoping for a bit more of that cornbread magic.
Now, onto the fish and chips. Sadly, the fish had a bit of an odor, and there was way too much breading for the tiny amount of cod inside. The roll was practically drowning in tartar sauce, and the fries had a mysterious white powder on them that turned out to be vinegar—definitely not what I expected! The hush puppies were small, cute, and flavorful, though—a definite highlight!
I might give this place another go and try one of the salads that looked delicious from afar, but for now, with a $70 bill, it didn’t quite live up to what I was hoping for. Maybe next time!

Take in the rustic/relaxing surroundings and excellent service. Great for business meetings in the daytime, friend brunch time and date night in the evening.

Beware, ordered a $12 burger with mustard, ketchup, onions, pickles. Charged 1$ for fried onions, 1$ for yellow mustard, 1$ each for three pickle chips. never again.
Omg where to start. My wife and I had the chicken roulade and what to say it was so delicious and juicy and tender, 10/10!! Our waitress Ashley was amazing, we’re definitely going to be back!! The music was a little loud though.

A bit disappointed.
Although a pretty extensive menu, prices were a bit exaggerated. When asked the server their favorites…the 3 most expensive items were suggested. Our server could have been a bit more polished to reflect the establishment, had to request refills for water.
Gnocchi was served with fresh flowers that had live bugs. The meal was replaced…or was it??
Bathroom definitely could use a refresh. Felt and smelled dirty.
No one thanked or an acknowledged our departure upon leaving.
Overall okay, definitely nothing special. But would most likely not return.

Seriously, beware. I ordered $12 cheeseburger with onions, pickels, mustard and ketchup. Charged $1 to fry the onions, $1 each for 3 pickel chips, $1 for mustard. Never again
The food is fantastic, the drinks are even better. We are huge fans, my three year old also loved his food. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The scallops were perfect. I loved the cheesecake dessert. I have a feeling everything is good. Very impressed, all around!
The staff and food was amazing. Was invited by Chef C and I visit twice a month but looks like I’ll probably be back sooner than later. Keep up the excellent work JACKSON HOUSE!
