Let me start by saying that I only had sushi, so I cannot speak about the Thai food at all. Or, for that matter, the other Japanese dishes. However, the sushi was very odd to say the least. The rice to nori to fish ratio was bizarre. There is very little fish, and next to no rice. So it tasted very nori heavy. But the real reason for my low rating is that some of the fish tasted very “fishy”. Some was fine, but for any of the fish to taste off is just wrong. The place is kind of dumpy, with torn vinyl seats, and a very messy bar area. I would certainly not return.
This is for the Lebanon Avenue Location but there is no option on TripAdvisor for that location. The food is always great but the service on this day was so bad that I will never return to this location again. We often go to this Chaiyo location because it is right next to a Subway. My son is autistic and only eats a few items. This allows both my son to eat something he likes and my daughter and I to enjoy sushi, which we love. On this day, we had plans to order food to go. I had walked my son next door to get a sandwich while my daughter went into the restaurant to look at the menu to see what she wanted. When we met up with her, she wanted to order a ton of food so I just said we should sit there to eat if she is wanting so much. My son has his Subway bag in his hand and I told the Host that we decided to stay. He instructed us to sit anywhere we’d like. He took our drink order and we just got water at the time. I told my son to go ahead and start eating his sandwich, which we have done MULTIPLE times before. I did not think anything of it. A waitress returned with our drinks. She did not introduce herself or say hello. She put the glasses of water on the table and said “I’ll let it go this time but next time you can’t bring outside food in here. First of all, it’s against the law and illegal…” I stopped her and said we would just leave. She said no it was ok this time but I told her that was rude of her and we’d just leave. My intention was to leave and remove my kids from the situation and speak with her about her approach without them around. My son is autistic and takes everything literally. We left and I spent the next 20 minutes looking up the law to show him that it wasn’t illegal to take food into another restaurant but a liability and the appropriate way to handle the situation was to tell us that. He freaked out and thought they were going to call the cops on him for breaking the law. This is exactly why I immediately got up and left was to avoid this type of situation. After I dropped the kids off, I returned to the restaurant to talk to the waitress on her approach. I came in and asked if she was the manager and she replied that she wasn’t but I told her I really just wanted to speak with her. I started to explain how she didn’t introduce herself and immediately went into telling my son he was “breaking the law.” I tried to explain our situation in hopes that she would be a little open minded to hearing our perspective so maybe she doesn’t approach someone else that way. It was apparent again in her response that she doesn’t care and lacks interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence. She started getting loud with me and cutting me off talking about how she has a kid that is autistic and has siliac and she has never taken food into another restaurant before. I wasn’t there to compare our situations or to talk about who’s child is on a different level of autism. It was about her understanding that there’s a nicer more gentle way to approach a conversation without being rude or condescending. I asked to speak with the manager. A guy came out, looked like he was still sleeping. He told me he wasn’t even supposed to be in that day. He listened to me and told me he would speak with her after her shift and let the General Manager know. He was nice and respectful and did offer us “something”. I told him I just wanted him to have a conversation with the waitress on her behavior and was not asking for anything in return. I didn’t leave having confidence that he was actually going to speak with the waitress or tell the general manager. It is unfortunate that we have had so many great experiences there but now one single individual will stop us from ever returning again.
Decided to try a new place. Absolutely delicious food. Weird that they don't allow free refills on unsweetened tea, but the do on soda?
Also learned one ? means spicy... not just low spice. Lol
Pictured is the Crispy Baisl Duck and the Tempura Ice Cream DELICIOUS!!
Will return.

Having now tried all the veggie options I can safely say that this place is now on my favorites list. Have yet to get something that tasted bad, and they are very obliging to substitutes and omissions (looking at you eggs). Refreshing to have someplace in town that serves tofu as a protein option.

Absolutely not. The Chaiyo on the other side of town is top notch. The lack of attention. There were flies all throughout whilst trying to enjoy our food. And swatting to keep them from touching our food. The waitress walks up and asks up how we're doing.... Obviously not that great we can't eat! I say it in quiet tone but in my head I'm just like do you want me to lie? I think she did. The food was not what my friend expected she invited me to try Chaiyo and wanted to go to this restaurant instead of the one she normally visits needless to say we both won't be back. Captains Curry was overly sweet to be a curry. We ordered wings in a sweet and spicy sauce that were supposed to tossed and they just drizzled it on top. Which left the wings exposed to see it was hard and over fried. The best thing was the water.

This restaurant is the best sushi restaurant in Dover. The food is always fresh and made perfectly. It can be a little pricy but the quality is completely worth it. The staff is very nice and attentive and I highly recommend dining here.

We arrived around 2-2:15 the female server was rude and rushed us bc they closed at 3 but actually locked the doors ar 2:45. Food was rushed and bland. Crab meat on top tasted slightly spoiled. I also had chicken gyoza, they were tasty! T
The atmosphere was good but there were annoying a** flies harassing us the entire time (not their fault....hopefully). The server would ask if we were ok but walk away before we could actually answer. Save yourself and your coin go to the one on East Lebanon Rd. The service, food, & drinks are waaaayyyyy better!

Chaiyo on Forrest Avenue in Dover exceeded my expectations! The menu is impressive, offering a variety of options. The service was quick, and I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken Teriyaki lunch box – it was absolutely delicious. A delightful dining experience that deserves a solid 5 stars!

Food was pretty good but our waitress made her judgy thoughts clear across her face. Had a look of perplexity after being asked a question of a menu item seeming like she didn’t believe they had it, making me believe that a person who can scan the menu for 5 seconds has more knowledge than her. Not to mention reading off a list items they have only to answer immediately with that it’s not available (why even bother saying you have it) or coming back because she “forgot they dont have it”. Now normally I would never care about this because I understand that things run out as I’ve worked jobs like this before, however it was her tone while trying to figure out a replacement like she just didn’t read off a list of; what she made to seem like we’re supposed to know, missing items. Would love to eat her again if she doesn’t serve us!
