Back Burner Restaurant & Tavern

My kids gave me a birthday luncheon there. Everything was great, server was excellent, I didn't get his name, sorry.

We tried burger night and were very pleased. Burger and toppings were very good and unique. The onion rings were very good.

Glazed salmon was wonderful, the sauce blended well with the rest of the plate. The atmosphere at the back burner is pleasant and peaceful; nice different kind of a restaurant.

We were there for my wife's mother's birthday. It was my first time and all I can say is it was absolutely incredible. My wife's mom turned 94 and the environment was cozy and comfortable. She was able to hear our conversation at the table and she loved it. The food was amazing and the service was fantastic. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great restaurant. Thank you so much for making her evening special.

Ordered a Cuban sandwich and very disappointed. Ciabbata was soft and mushy. One thin slice of ham, one thin slice of pork and way too much thousand island. Not what I expected for a Cuban.

Food was delicious as always. Disappointed you ran out of stuff mushrooms and yellow tail but our meals were very good. Ricky was our server and he was great.

Have always had great meals at the Back Burner. I had the pumpkin soup for the first time, in a long while, and it was delicious. You cannot go wrong by going there to eat, lunch and/or dinner. Extremely worthwhile to eat at Back Burner.

Terrible service ... got order wrong and served cloudy water that tasted like dish soap. When we said something “no one likes Hockessin water”. The food was mediocre although my husband said filet was pretty good. Seating at the bar was very uncomfortable. The chairs have probably been there as long as the restaurant and had no support. Definitely not coming back.

Met up with some friends for a late lunch and we had a great time. We all had the pumpkin mushroom soup (delicious!) and then ordered a bunch of appetizers - better cheddar, brussel sprouts and stuffed mushrooms - all were very shareable and excellent! Service was great. We'll definitely be back.

Always an outstanding time, especially Tuesday night with Burger Night $9 burgers!! Not sure how they do it, but tremendous value for a terrific burger. We've been coming here for lunch & dinner for many years and have never been disappointed.

Food was very good. Very long wait time after soup and salads for entree. Waiter was working on tables at far end of Dining room, while another waitress was working all tables around us.We were his only table on that end of the dining room. Tables around us arrived after us and finished eating before We got served. Never checked how our meal was, never came over to clear plates,never asked if We wanted desert, coffee. Too busy on other side of room. Mentioned issues to Manager on way out, She said our waiter is usually better.??She said maybe come back again. Probably not.

Where do I start? We ordered prime rib on prime rib night we got this piece of mystery meat that was covered with gravy. Did not resemble any type of prime rib and we paid a lot of money for it. Basically it was the worst prime rib I've ever had. I'm probably just gonna go to Harry's Savoy and get a good prime rib because obviously back burner does not know how to cut and cook prime rib anymore or they gave us a piece of meat at the end of the day and that was 6 o'clock folks and it was just terrible. We paid for it and left never to come back.

We chose Back Burner because we knew it ‘s a place where you can actually hear, and carry on conversations, and not have to yell! Our food was excellent, Ribeye special and beet salad. It's a cozy little gem!

We have been here several times to celebrate special occasions. Back Burner never disappoints! Food is always awesome! Our server was outstanding!
