Phenomenal.Made a reservation online and arrived early & were seated almost immediately.Server was pleasant and helpful & took our order quickly but we did not feel rushed.Very comfortable atmosphere with a chill vibe. Loved the bar menu/names. We enjoyed smiling together over the alchemy names. Clever. And delicious…36 Chambers and the Not Today Kathy were perfect. The chef should be proud. Lucille’s chicken and waffles were out of this world delicious. Sweet and savory! The side of grits made the dish even more “comforting”. The blackened salmon was great and was very tasty, cooked to perfection.Highly recommend this Middletown, DE hidden gem!!! ?***we were so into the experience that no pictures were taken; sorry lol

The mirrors was dirty. The proportions were small for the price. You can't depend on the menu on line bc it was a totally different menu when we got there. They an ingredient out of our dish. Fish is way over cooked

Absolutely fantastic experience at 1861 in Middletown, DE! Our waitress, Murphy, made our evening truly memorable with her infectious energy and warm personality. She recommended the "Smokey" Old Fashioned, and it was an absolute delight—one of the best I've ever had. If you're looking for top-notch service and a great time, definitely ask for Murphy. She'll ensure you have an exceptional dining experience!

Good food and atmosphere! Unfortunately, 1861 automatically added the gratituiy for a table of four then when you use your card to pay your bill the request for gratuity shows on the mobile machine again which caused me to double pay the gratuity for a 44% tip.

Today was my 2nd dining exerpience at 1861 and I had such a wonderful time that I had to share. The atmosphere is so unique yet charming and intimate where you have to go to understand. We ordered the Mama's Benedict (scrapple and eggs benedict mix), the Dill Na Na (fried chicken breast on a biscuit w/ some special sauce and pickles) and the Bourbon Peach Cobbler Waffles (yummy, the title just speaks for itself)...and everything was so delicious. You won't find their selections anywhere else which makes them standout. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals each visit. The plates are priced right for the portions served. The servers are friendly. Parking is limited where you may have to park across the street but it's well worth it! 1861 is definitely a great option for brunch. Once I try their dinner menu I will follow up and let you know my thoughts. I highly recommend you try 1861!

My wife and I have been here several times and we’ve always been happy with the food and service. Recently we had a reservation on 4/6/24 and had the honor of meeting Ananda H. Ananda was our server and she was great. My wife and I ordered some drinks and fried green tomatoes to start. The fried green tomatoes are by far the best we have ever had. We’ve been to Savannah, Georgia many times and their fried green tomatoes were the best, until we had the ones at 1861. My wife decided on getting the salmon and switched out the rice for the mashed potatoes and vegetables. She kept saying how good it was and kept raving about the glaze on it. I took a bite or two and totally agreed. I went with the special of the day which was the lamb burger with goat cheese. I’m very glad I made that decision. It was perfectly cooked and I couldn’t find anything wrong with it. If you’re looking to find a fault or something you would do differently but can’t, it’s a great sign of how good the food is. I couldn’t find anything wrong with anything. Service, food, and atmosphere were perfect. Thank you Ananda and 1861 for making our date night perfect.
