This was first time visiting Vicky's, in Middletown, DE. We got there right at opening, like 11:05 am. The prices are decent, but everything else was not. The lady that took our order seemed like she didn't want to be there. She left shortly after ringing us up. We went to sit down to wait for our food. We add 2 options: 1 -a rusted iron wrought outdoor table placed right at the door or 2- a long dusty bench that had about 2 layers of dust on it. The entire length of the bench was dusty. The floors looked they hadn't been swept in a long time. There were layers of dust everywhere. The longer we sat there the more we contemplated canceling the order, but we were called to the counter to pick it up before we could cancel. So, we decided to give it a try. The flounder was cooked in some type of panko type breading and had an after taste. Not good. My friend looked in her bag and noticed that the collards that she ordered were missing. She went to the counter to tell the lady, not the same one that took the order, and she looked up the order and said that we only ordered yams. We tell her that that is incorrect. She reads the order back. According to her we only ordered yams, 2 orders of flounder and 2 sodas. We actually only ordered 1 soda. We tell the lady just that. She picks up the phone and apparently called the lady that took our order. Tells her what we are saying about our order and then hangs up and repeat the order again At this point we gave up trying to get the correct order. Neither lady acknowledged that a mistake was made on their behalf or offered to get the order corrected. She just walked away. I don't understand why it's so hard for us to exercise customer service skills and to not always display a noncaring attitude almost every time we are at work. We tried to be supportive by giving this black owned business a try. But the first experience was horrible and it will be the last. The whole vibe was off and unwelcoming. And did I mention that we had to fight the flies and gnats over our food! We looked in the back and the back door to the kitchen/restaurant was open. I started to walk to the bathroom, then thought better of it. Totally disappointed. My friend drove all the way from Milford to give this place a try.
Update: Thank you for responding to the review. However, you were nit being truthful in your response nor did read the review thoroughly, but it's okay that seems to be a norm these days. I never questioned the math. We just wanted what we ordered and had bo issue paying for it. When we inquired about the missing collards. You then read the order back. No copy of the order was given to us. You didn't ask if you could ring us up for them. You didn't take off the extra soda that we didn't order. You just walked away without offering a solution. Even now you haven't offered an apology. But it is okay because I have no more energy designated for you and your establishment. Just go ahead and be you and maybe clean every now and then. Have an amazing day and keep being great.

Went here for the first time and it definitely won’t be my last! I ordered the catfish dinner with a side of mac & cheese and collards. The amount of catfish pieces was enough for 3 people! All for $15 and it was well worth it! Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area and want a big amount of food for a great price. Keep in mind there isn’t much if a seating area, you order your food to-go. Also order ahead as they get busy.

Swaii and Basa both are different types of Asian catfish. Here in the U.S. we call them that and not Catfish... When you go to any grocery store or meat market it is sold by their name of Wwai or Basa and not catfish

I got dinner here last night. I got the captain’s catch and fried catfish with 2 sides of collard greens. The food was amazing. The helpings were huge. I had plenty of leftovers even though I found it hard to stop eating. The catfish is nice thick pieces and the greens are to die for. I cannot wait to go back and try some more.

The food is very good and the portions are quite adequate. It's not a fancy place, but it's clean and neat.

My husband and I went today and ordered, I ordered the Flounder with cabbage, potato salad and cornbread, he ordered Whiting with fries, and coleslaw. We were all in it. The fish was large pieces crunchy and the fish was meaty just the way we liked it. The potato salad and cabbage was delicious also. The fries and coleslaw were delicious but he said that he likes my coleslaw better. Overall it is our place for fried fish for now on. The lady at the counter was very polite and welcoming. The place is small, but I like the idea of having to see into the kitchen.

The fish was really good that I ordered and wasn’t too greasy which is good because that would have killed the meal for me . Definitely coming back soon .
I ordered a tray of fried Whiting fish for fish tacos for my son's birthday party n they were absolutely delish!!!
Perfectly breaded n fried. In fact so good I ate fish tacos everyday til the fish was gone.
I will be ordering from here again!!

Today was my first time ordering at Vicky's. The food was very tasty. I had fried oysters, flounder, whitings, candy, yams, macaroni and cheese and fried oysters. The servant sizes was enough for two people. I will return.

Dropped by for chicken, but I was curious about the fish. I got some fried fish and I was super impressed. 3 whole fillets, perfectly breaded, not greasy. The cornbread is to die for too, it knocked my socks off.
Everything about this food was good. I wish my belly were bigger. I’d be eating more of it.
We got the whiting and flounder , super fresh and hot , breading was super crunchy and tasty . Mac n cheese and potato salad were also very good . Love the tartar sauce also , you cam taste how fresh it is. Highly recommend
Tried this place for the first time today and picked up some catfish with fries. Honestly, I was surprised by some of the negative reviews because the catfish was excellent—golden, flaky, and cooked perfectly. As for the restaurant itself, the interior could use a bit of sprucing up, but my interaction with the gentleman working there was great. He was friendly and even thanked me for my purchase, which I appreciated.
I’ll definitely be back soon, but I do have one suggestion: why doesn’t this seafood spot serve hush puppies? Is there something against hush puppies in the Northeast? It’s surprising that no one seems to have them around here!
Delicious fish platters! Better call ahead, they stay busy!!
